Our latest blog post comes from our very own, Dr. Michelle Miller.

If there is anyone in your life whom you love who did, is, or will go through perimenopause may I strongly recommend you take five minutes and read this article. This topic deserves way more airtime than it has ever received.

Michelle Miller ( michellemillercounselling.com ) Let’s talk perimenopause - a wild ride, one that no one really warns us about until we’re smack in the middle of it. One minute, you’re laughing; the next, you’re irritated for no reason. Sound familiar? Perimenopause—the years leading up t...

Kenton Klassen has come out of the gates of his private practice flying. Highly skilled, deeply empathic, incredibly effective.

This week marks 6 months since the beginning of Beyond the Pines Therapy! A huge thank you to everyone who has spread the word, encouraged me, or interacted with my content.

I am grateful to report that the practice is going well! I am learning a LOT. Clients are finding me and I've been able to open up more availability. It has been such a privilege to be entrusted with the vulnerable and difficult experiences of the wonderful people in my office.

I am also very grateful for the backing of Launchpad Counselling this year, as they have been providing business consultation, clinical supervision, and a regular community of therapists.

Looking forward to the next 6 months!

Jennifer Schine is a recipient of a 2024 Launchpad Fellowship

As a Counsellor based in Vancouver, Canada, I work online and in-person with people of all genders, orientations, and backgrounds. At the heart of what I do is deep listening. This means, I not only listen when you speak, but I attune myself to the meaning and emotions underneath your words. I want to understand who you are, so that we can explore the issues, concerns, and patterns that are impacting your life. During our sessions, I create both a gentle and deliberate pacing, so that you feel calm and reassured to navigate your own healing and growth.

Over the last two decades, I’ve worked in non-profits, consulting, social justice, and the arts in remote areas and urban centres with Indigenous communities, newcomers, and Canadian citizens. My decision to pursue a career in counselling arose from a profound desire to listen deeply to my environment, to others, and within the self. I am no stranger to pain. I understand that life does not always go in the direction we want. And I have benefited immensely from the therapy that I have received throughout my life. From this, I have learned that it takes a great deal of courage to live authentically.

I am a Registered Clinical Counsellor with the BC Association of Clinical Counsellors, Member of the Adlerian Psychology Association of BC, and a 2024 Launchpad Fellowship Recipient. In my personal journey, I have drawn strength from my relationships built in community and from matriarch leaders. This education has informed all aspects of my life, including my work as a counsellor. I have also enjoyed education in institutional settings and have completed several advanced degrees and trainings. These include a Master’s of Counselling Psychology from Adler University, a Master of Arts in Acoustic Communication from Simon Fraser University, Internal Family Systems (IFS) training, Gottman Method Couples Therapy, and Observed & Experiential Integration (OEI).

To fuel my creative spirit, I have an active Sound Art practice and I produce podcasts. I also grow a garden. Being in or on the water with family and friends brings me great joy and I love hanging around on boats! I was born and raised on the North Shore of Vancouver in the territories of the xʷməθkʷəy̓əm (Musqueam), Sḵwx̱wú7mesh (Squamish), and səlilwətaɬ (Tsleil-Waututh) Nations, where I am now based. These lands and waters have shaped who I have become and how I belong to the world. I am grateful for the people who have stewarded these territories for tens of thousands of years, so that we can be here today.

Tyler Milley, BSc, MA, RCC-ACS
REGISTERED CLINICAL COUNSELLOR - approved clinical supervisor

Tyler has over twenty-five years experience working collaboratively with neurodiverse and neurotypical people of all ages to develop and attain their goals. His friendliness and relational style create a warm environment where individuals, couples, and families are safe to explore what they want and what they think would be good for them - free from any kind of judgement or criticism.

Tyler utilizes many of the proven methods found in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy while maintaining both Family Systems and Attachment perspectives. This ensures that families and individuals are known within their context and that changes made by an individual are sustainable within a family and cultural structure.

Tyler is a registered counsellor with the BC Association of Clinical Counsellors ( #2886), and holds both a Bachelor of Science degree and a Master of Counselling Psychology degree from The University of British Columbia. Tyler is a Gottman Level 2 trained marriage therapist, as well as an Approved Clinical Supervisor for both newly registered and experienced counsellors.

Tyler has spent a significant amount of time traveling and working in various countries all over the world. This, along with being a member of the adoptive community, has created a love and respect for different cultures, orientations, and ways of forming families.

In 2022, along with Peter La Grand, for the purpose of matching people looking counselling with effective and available therapists, Tyler cofounded Launchpad Counselling. You can learn more about it here.

Tyler was born and raised on the North Shore of Vancouver but does not own a mountain bike. Instead he can be found happily running the trails there, injury free, with his wife, Emma, and their three incredibly intelligent, good-looking children.

"I consider it a great privilege to live and work on the traditional, ancestral and unceded territory of the Coast Salish peoples–Sḵwx̱wú7mesh (Squamish), Stó:lō and Səl̓ílwətaʔ/Selilwitulh (Tsleil-Waututh) and xʷməθkʷəy̓əm (Musqueam) Nations." - Tyler
