SELFCARE SUNDAY
Since March, many of us have been working or learning from home. Home has become the place we exercise, we communicate, we workout. It’s our home salons and our favorite restaurant. That’s a lot of things to cram in one place.
When we try to do so many things without a change of scenery, it can lead to blurred boundaries and never really feeling relaxed.
Here our some of our tips for keeping your home life and work life separate;
-Establish a dedicated office space. Is working from bed awesome? Kind of. But as a long time work from home expert, it’s a terrible idea. Keep your bedroom a sacred safe space for sleep. If you rent only a room, assign an area of the room as your work space and keep it separate from your other leisure activities. I also love finding new coffee shops, make it an adventure!
-Establish business hours. Can you technically answer that email at 10pm? Won’t it only take a second? Yes. But be careful about setting the precedent that you are always on and available. Burn out is real and your will perform better if you take breaks. Set specific hours you are “working” and schedule breaks for workouts, entertainment etc if you find it’s easy to work all of the time (guilty, this one is easier said than done)
-This one is just a general suggestion regardless of your WFH status. It’s okay to say no. When you wake up every day, take an inventory of how much energy you have to spend (like a budget) and the essentials of what you have to accomplish. After that, you’ll understand what you have “left over” in your energy bank. Some days, it might be nothing and it’s important to rest. Other days weigh each task and say no if it will put you over budget
-if you get overwhelmed with all of the to dos, make a list to clearly lay out the priorities and visually see how many things you need to do. I like to start this on Monday and order my tasks, then add other activities as they come up and sort them into days to minimize the overwhelm!
We hoped this helped and know it can be an exciting and stressful time of year. If you think that your skin is being impacted by stress, track it in our app and stay tuned tor more tips!
