Will power and energy put into stopping is hugely important BUT it cannot be done before understanding the core of what is driving your urge to engage in your unwanted behaviour, so you can focus that effort on healing and growth. Without this, you are likely to get lost in a cycle of feast or famine.

Avoidance of difficult thoughts, feelings, memories, and emotions does not make them go away... it only makes them stronger, unfortunately. I don't know much about much but I do know that you have the ability to sit with these thoughts, process them non-judgmentally and in a compassionate way, and then let them go... this is key to your mental health.

Depression can hit you at unexpected times, and this is NOT the time to try to think of what you can do. You need to have a plan in place of tasks you can complete, things you know you can do that are good for you and/or someone you can be with where you don't have to wear a mask. Write this down on a paper or in your phone, so it's ready to go. You gotta get up and get moving and celebrate small wins instead of wallowing in existential grief and sadness.
