It's been a tough year for TCM in BC. As a result, it's meant a TON of work, with just as much expected for next year. So receiving this appreciation award feels extra special. ✨️ I'm grateful for those who are doing this work alongside me!

It's more than a pet peeve for me when people say that acupuncture and Traditional Chinese Medicine have no studies to back them. I was once (briefly--and I have my name on a study published in the European Journal of Pharmacology to prove it) a research assistant, and I learned through that that I much prefer working with people than reading through or doing research, but I have saved some studies on my website so I can have a quick response when people ask me, "Does acupuncture actually work or is it just a placebo?" Here I share just a few of the studies on pain relief.

Today, I went to my TCM alma mater, Tzu Chi International College of Traditional Chinese Medicine (used to be ICTCM), to speak to students and instructors in my role of Executive Director of the ATCMA. Lucky me that I was also there on one of the twice monthly days that they cater a vegetarian lunch for their students and staff!!! Thank you to Dr. Situ and for being wonderful hosts!

This week, I was invited to KPU's launch of the first TCM Bachelor's degree in Canada to speak on behalf of the ATCMA. It's wonderful to get to share in the excitement of students on their career path, and it made me reminisce about my TCM student days--a quarter century + ago!!! One student remarked about how it has changed her for the better to study this powerful medical system. It's true. It happened for me too!

What does a Dr.TCM/acupuncturist do for a hobby? Needlework, of course. My newest hobby is visible mending and sachiko. I gave my sister this shirt, made by , awhile ago, but her dog had torn some huge holes in it. My sister loves this shirt, so I added the girls in kimono 👘 material and did the white sachiko (Japanese style) stitching. First project, and I'm working on the next item now.

I believe that having a creative hobby is a great way to wind down (my meditation 🧘‍♂️) and calm the mind.

Today, I had the opportunity to speak about Chinese Medicine food cures to my fellow colleagues at the 2025 China-Canada Traditional Chinese Medicine Expert Forum. I also got to see my fellow classmates, .kimtcm (who presented a wonderful and important talk about end-of-life care and palliative care) and Felicia (who I haven't seen for about 2 decades!). I was there as well to represent , alongside board members Charity and Sam. It was wonderful to hear the ongoing support for TCM from leaders--the Consul General Zhi Zeng, Member of Parliament Chak Au, and former MLA Henry Yao. And, last, but certainly not least, we continued to strengthen the relationships between our TCM associations. A busy but encouraging and productive day! Now... 😴
