In Loving Memory of Phyllis Jean Scott (1941-2026)

Phyllis Jean Scott, born with a funny eye on October 4, 1941 in Craigmont Idaho, passed away peacefully on January 21, 2026, surrounded by her family.

Phyllis was a devoted mother, sister, aunt, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend. She was the oldest daughter of 11 children. She lived a life of hard work, laughter, inquiry and connection. After immigrating to Canada in 1964, Phyllis settled in Vancouver to raise her four young children. Earning a culinary degree in 1988, Phyllis made a living as a cook in Chilliwack, BC until she retired to Duncan, BC Vancouver Island in 2000.

Never one to turn away a tired soul or hungry mouth, Phyllis’ legacy can be felt in her family's open hearts and homes. That legacy continues in the lives of her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and all those she welcomed to her table.

In Loving Memory of Clifford Robert Young (1967-2026)

It is with deep sadness that we share the passing of Clifford Robert Young. Although we had grown apart in recent years, his loss is felt deeply.

Clifford was the eldest of three, and without question the funniest. He was never shy about dancing — anywhere, anytime — and that fearless joy remains one of his most memorable traits.

He grew up in Whalley, shaped by its familiar streets and steady sense of community. A proud graduate of North Surrey Secondary, he carried those roots with him throughout his life. Clifford worked hard and dedicated many years to Safeway until his retirement, always caring deeply for the community that shaped him. He was also a valued member of UFCW (United Food and Commercial Workers Union) Local 1518.

In Loving Memory of Raul Antonio Flores Platero (1959-2026)

With deep sorrow, we announce the passing of Raúl Antonio Flores Platero, born on January 15, 1959, passed away peacefully at his home on February 6, 2026 after bravely facing cancer.

Born in El Salvador, Raúl emigrated to Canada many years ago and later made Vancouver his home. There, he built a meaningful life and found a rewarding career with the Vancouver Convention Centre. He will be remembered as a kind, generous, and compassionate soul. Raul was a devoted son, brother, uncle, friend, and coworker who was admired for his integrity, warmth, and genuine care for others.

Raúl wished to be remembered through two special songs that brought him comfort and meaning: “If” by Pink Floyd and “Always With Me, Always With You” by Joe Satriani. May these melodies serve as a gentle reminder of his spirit, sensitivity, and the love he carried in his heart.
