Nutrition can often be forgotten as a way to help athletes perform at their best and to be strong and healthy.
Thank you for inviting me to speak to your athletes! It is great to see a team and coach that are so interested in nutrition.
Presenting to athletes is one of my favourite things to do and I am currently offering presentations virtually. Don’t hesitate to DM or email me if interested.

Reasons to fuel your morning workout:
• Reduce fatigue
• Improve speed and endurance
• Decrease digestive issues
• Optimize body composition
• Improve concentration and decision making
If you still feel like you would not want to eat before a workout, have a snack with some carbohydrates before bed.
Aim for ~30g carbohydrates 30min-1 hour before working out. Choose foods lower in fibre, fat and protein (like those shown) to prevent issues with digestion.
What is your favourite morning pre-workout fuel?

Mondays are always better with pancakes 🥞 🙌🏼. Who’s with me?
No time in the morning? Prepare some on the weekend and either store in the fridge or freezer. Use parchment paper if storing in the freezer so they don’t stick together.
When you’re ready to eat, just pop them in the toaster and load them with your favourite toppings. Peanut butter, homemade nutella, maple syrup and berries are my favourites.

This is a really good question but the answer will vary based on the athlete. Some things to consider:
- Can you get it through food?
- Are you on a specific diet that eliminates entire food groups?
- Is your appetite reduced post-exercise or during the day?
- Are you travelling and have limited food options?
- What is the purpose of the supplement?
These are some questions I will ask athletes to determine if supplements, which include vitamins/minerals/multivitamins AND sports nutrition products (pre-workout, whey, BCAA, creatine, etc) are needed.
Generally speaking, if you are eating a well balanced diet and are a recreational athlete (exercising a few days a week) then a supplement is not necessary. For the most part, we can get all of our nutrients from food.
If you are still confused about what is right for you and your training schedule, I am here to provide individual advice!

Soups are the perfect comfort food for rainy days.
This dill pickle soup from .rd is one of my favourites and it is so easy to make! It uses sunflower seeds or cashews instead of cream to give it a nice rich flavour with an extra dose of nutrients.
Add in chickpeas/tofu/meat or make a sandwich on the side with any of these ingredients to boost up the protein content.

There is no scientific backing to the idea that we can ‘boost’ our immune health, but what we can do is maintain a balanced, nutrient-packed diet
