Robert Redford, the Oscar-winning actor, director, and environmental advocate, died at his home in Utah at 89. Beloved for his roles in classics like Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid, The Sting, and All the President’s Men, Redford combined matinee-idol charisma with a willingness to tackle complex themes such as grief, corruption, and identity. He won an Academy Award for directing Ordinary People and later created enduring works like A River Runs Through It and Quiz Show. Beyond Hollywood, he founded the Sundance Film Festival, which reshaped independent cinema and launched the careers of countless filmmakers. A lifelong conservationist, Redford also championed environmental causes and resisted political office, believing storytelling to be his most powerful tool for change. He is survived by his wife, Sibylle Szaggars, his daughters Shauna and Amy, and seven grandchildren.
