Sometimes emotions can feel like a tangled knot, keeping us stuck in a place of confusion or heaviness. When that happens, try slowing down and asking yourself these three gentle questions.

Each question is a doorway to understanding yourself a little better, helping you to move forward with compassion and clarity.

Remember, emotions aren’t problems to solve; they’re signals to listen to. What might your emotions be asking of you today?

Here are three simple ways to start. Pick one, give it a try, and see what you discover. The more you connect with your emotions, the more you’ll feel grounded and in tune with yourself.

We all know that feeling of being overwhelmed by thoughts and emotions, sometimes not even sure which is which. But here’s the thing: thoughts and emotions are different, and learning to tell them apart can allow us to work with them separately, and help us make sense of them both.

When you’re aware of what’s truly a thought versus what’s an emotion, you can respond to each in a way that brings more clarity and peace. Let’s get curious about our inner world.

Internal Family Systems (IFS), often referred to as "Parts Work," is a therapeutic approach that views the mind as made up of distinct parts or subpersonalities, each with its own perspective and role. Developed by Dr. Richard Schwartz, IFS helps individuals understand and heal their internal conflicts by exploring these parts and their interactions.⁣

Trauma can disrupt the harmony of this internal system, leading to overwhelming emotions and challenging behaviours. IFS offers a compassionate path to healing by helping you connect with your core Self - a wise, compassionate part of you that can guide the healing process. By understanding and validating your parts, you can gradually release the burdens they carry and foster a sense of inner peace.⁣

If you're curious about how IFS can complement your healing journey and support your trauma processing, I invite you to hop on a free, complementary call with me. Together, we can find the best approach for your needs.⁣

Relationships are a beautiful tapestry woven with threads of connection, love, and mutual respect. However, not all relationships are healthy. It’s important to understand that relationships exist on a spectrum, ranging from healthy to unhealthy to abusive. And - even the best relationships will have unhealthy moments; we aren’t all going to get it perfect every time and the best relationships are able to identify unhealthy patterns and work together to remedy them.⁣

• Healthy relationships are built on a foundation of mutual respect, trust, and open communication. Partners in healthy relationships feel supported, valued, and loved.⁣
• Unhealthy relationships often involve patterns of behaviour that can be harmful to one or both partners. While they may not be abusive, they can still be emotionally draining.⁣
• Abusive relationships are characterized by patterns of behaviour that involve physical, emotional, sexual, or financial harm. It's important to remember that abuse is never the victim's fault.⁣

Ulcerative colitis is a condition that affects the large intestine, causing inflammation and ulcers. While its exact cause remains a puzzle, researchers believe it's linked to an overactive immune system response. Factors like diet, particularly processed foods, and heightened stress can aggravate the inflammation, making colitis more challenging to manage.⁣

It's important to note that ulcerative colitis isn't contagious. However, certain factors can increase the risk for individuals. These include bacterial or viral infections and food poisoning.⁣

👉 𝐌𝐚𝐢𝐧𝐭𝐚𝐢𝐧 𝐚 𝐛𝐚𝐥𝐚𝐧𝐜𝐞𝐝 𝐝𝐢𝐞𝐭: Focus on whole foods, fibre-rich options, and plenty of hydration.⁣

Our digestive system is a complex and fascinating network, and sometimes, it can feel the effects of what's going on in our minds. Anxiety, a common experience marked by rumination, worry, unease, can manifest in surprising ways, including through digestive troubles.⁣

Here are 6 digestive symptoms that may be linked to anxiety:⁣

1. 𝐒𝐭𝐨𝐦𝐚𝐜𝐡 𝐏𝐚𝐢𝐧 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐂𝐫𝐚𝐦𝐩𝐢𝐧𝐠: A churning or a knot in your stomach – often referred to as a “nervous stomach” – can be a telltale sign of anxiety.⁣
2. 𝐃𝐢𝐚𝐫𝐫𝐡𝐞𝐚: The “fight-or-flight” response triggered by anxiety can speed up digestion, leading to urgent, loose stools or diarrhea.⁣
3. 𝐂𝐨𝐧𝐬𝐭𝐢𝐩𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧: On the other hand, anxiety can also slow down digestion, causing constipation.⁣
4. 𝐍𝐚𝐮𝐬𝐞𝐚 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐕𝐨𝐦𝐢𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠: Feeling nauseated or even experiencing vomiting during periods of high anxiety is not uncommon.⁣
5. 𝐀𝐜𝐢𝐝 𝐑𝐞𝐟𝐥𝐮𝐱 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐇𝐞𝐚𝐫𝐭𝐛𝐮𝐫𝐧: Anxiety can increase stomach acid production, leading to heartburn and indigestion.⁣
6. 𝐁𝐥𝐨𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠: Anxiety can make you swallow more air, which can contribute to feelings of bloating and abdominal discomfort.⁣
7. 𝐂𝐡𝐚𝐧𝐠𝐞𝐬 𝐢𝐧 𝐀𝐩𝐩𝐞𝐭𝐢𝐭𝐞: Some people may lose their appetite entirely during anxious episodes, while others may experience cravings for sugary or unhealthy foods.⁣

𝐈𝐭'𝐬 𝐢𝐦𝐩𝐨𝐫𝐭𝐚𝐧𝐭 𝐭𝐨 𝐧𝐨𝐭𝐞 𝐭𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐬𝐞 𝐬𝐲𝐦𝐩𝐭𝐨𝐦𝐬 𝐜𝐚𝐧 𝐚𝐥𝐬𝐨 𝐛𝐞 𝐜𝐚𝐮𝐬𝐞𝐝 𝐛𝐲 𝐨𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐫 𝐮𝐧𝐝𝐞𝐫𝐥𝐲𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐦𝐞𝐝𝐢𝐜𝐚𝐥 𝐜𝐨𝐧𝐝𝐢𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐬. If you're experiencing any of these issues consistently, consult with a healthcare professional to determine the cause of your concerns and get support.⁣
