This is terribly sad. Midwives are the key for many women, who have had traumatic experiences in other settings, giving birth.

We must support midwives and petition politicians to bring the much needed changes to their working conditions or we will continue to see these kinds of closures across the province.

The Penticton-based clinic said it is unable to maintain a midwifery service in the South Okanagan due to a shortage of midwives.

It has been said that giving birth should be a women's greatest achievement, not her greatest fear.

Hello, my name is Susannah and I am a Trained Birth Doula. I became a Doula to help support women to give birth without fear or trauma.

As a Member of the Doula Services Association of BC I am able to continue supporting women during the current pandemic both in hospital and at home.

The services I provide are for the emotional and physical support of all women. If I can assist you in your birth experience, contact me today.

I would love to be your Birth Doula.

Please lend your voice to ensure the love and care of Midwifery is not lost in the province due to poor working conditions and limited resources.

BC’s Midwives are excluded from retirement plans and pensions that other public servants receive. Many of us don’t know when, or if, we will retire. We’re calling on the NDP government to fix this and

A thoughtful tip for your Thursday evening scroll through Facebook!

Are you someone who sits and watches the trickle of milk, if any, that comes when pumping? Do you get stressed or sad about your output?

When I was told to pump after feeding to boost supply, I'd sit there and watch. I'd double pump for twenty minutes after ever feed, and become more and more demoralised at the lack of milk in that bottle. I realised that, for my own mental health, I needed to stop watching! Easier said than done. Enter the baby sock.

Now I advise mamas to put a sock over their pumping bottle, and it has been getting incredible results. Some women are reporting often 2-3 times more milk when they remove themselves mentally from the result of their pumping session! We know that oxytocin release is inhibited by stress, and oxytocin release is required for letdowns, so if you find you are getting stressed while watching, try it!
