Begin Again Vancouver Counselling

Begin Again Vancouver Counselling I help adults heal from impacts of trauma, including childhood abuse and neglect, abusive relationships, sexual assault, and traumatic grief.

My clients often come to therapy feeling stuck in patterns of self-criticism, perfectionism, or burnout, even when life “looks fine” on the outside. Together, we explore the roots of these patterns with compassion. I aim to provide a space where you feel safe to slow down, make sense of what’s happened, and begin to move toward a life that feels more grounded and aligned with who you are. If it feels like I might be a good fit, I invite you to book a free consultation. I would be honoured to walk alongside you as you begin this next chapter of your healing journey.

This week on my blog, I've put together a post about how you can create a safety plan if you or a loved one are experiencing thoughts of su***de. I also really want to encourage you to get support if this is something you're navigating - whether it's from me or another registered practitioner. Things can feel big and scary when trying to navigate on your own, but a therapist can help lighten the load 💛

A safety plan is a personalized written guide that folks can turn to help manage crisis situations, and is commonly used in su***de prevention. The goal of this safety plan is to de-escalate thoughts of su***de and help you emotionally regulate when things feel overwhelming.

I've included detailed instructions, examples, crisis resources, and a template to create your own plan. I've also created a downloadable PDF of the post in case you want create a digital copy or print it out.

*Please note that this is a guide and does not replace therapy or crisis resources. If you are feeling overwhelmed by thoughts of su***de or have concerns about you or someone else attempting su***de, please call 9-8-8 for immediate support. A crisis responder can support you in regulating you

After a sexual assault, many survivors are faced with a tremendously difficult decision: whether or not to report it.

Thinking about this decision can feel overwhelming and confusing. Sometimes this can feel like an even more daunting decision when we don't know what the process might look like if we do report.

This post is focused on what the legal process might look like for a survivor of sexual assault if they decide to report to police. This is a longer post - I’ve chosen to keep all of this information in one place so that survivors don’t have to search multiple sources to understand what the criminal justice process can look like. If things feel overwhelming while you’re reading, please take breaks and take care of yourself.

You are not alone. And there is no single “right” decision. Support is available no matter what you choose. 💛

Sometimes it can be confusing to have made so much progress in our healing and growth journey, to then fall back into old habits and patterns when we return home for the holidays.

In this week's blog, I talk about why we can fall back into these old ways, and how we might start to navigate forward with awareness and self-care.

Have you ever found yourself falling back into patterns you thought you had outgrown? Behaving or thinking like you did when you were younger? Feeling old wounds getting triggered? You’re not alone. Regression over the holidays, or when adult children return home, is something that therapists comm...

Every relationship goes through hard moments, but some challenges leave us feeling disconnected or hurt in a way that we struggle to move past. If you have been wondering whether what you are facing is simply a rough patch or something asking for deeper support, you are not alone. In our blog this week, we talk about when it might be time to head into a couple’s therapist for additional support.

You can read more about it here:
