Start the new year with new goals, new beginnings, and a renewed commitment to your health.

As you set your intentions, consider making acupuncture a regular part of your wellness routine—bringing balance, peace of mind, and harmony to body and spirit.

Acupuncture is a safe, effective, and deeply relaxing treatment that uses ultra‑fine sterile needles to stimulate specific points on the body. This gentle technique helps restore healthy circulation and supports the natural flow of energy (Qi). It may feel unfamiliar at first, but this ancient practice has been trusted for thousands of years to promote healing from the inside out.

Start the year aligned, grounded, and ready to thrive.

Choose balance. Choose renewal. Choose you.

Neoclassical Acupuncture (NCA)

The NCA system requires palpating the abdomen, legs, chest or back as a diagnostic feedback and treatment tool delivering immediate relief and rehabilitation. NCA ‘s overall healing principles prescribe that our bodies have an innate tendency and ability to self-correct in real time, and that diverse symptoms may arise from a single cause.

Minimal needles are strategically placed to create a dramatic effect with rapid relief and a profound sense of deep relaxation. Treatments are highly sophisticated that place needles at specific locations, angles and depths to resolve many health problems and restore homeostasis within a single treatment session. Once obstacles and blockages are removed, the body naturally repatterns itself to a healthy state.

-Acute conditions: Typically 1–2 sessions per week,

-Chronic conditions: Often 1–2 sessions per week over a span of 4–6 weeks,

-Maintenance care: Scheduled as needed to support long-term wellness.

Do acupuncture needles hurt?

Acupuncture needles typically cause little to no pain, though some people may feel a brief prick, pressure, or a mild ache. Because acupuncture needles are much thinner than those used for injections, insertion is often not felt at all, and any discomfort is usually mild and fades quickly.

What to expect

Insertion: Most people do not feel the needles going in because they are very fine and inserted gently.

During the treatment: After insertion, you may feel sensations such as a dull ache, warmth, or tingling. These are considered a normal and positive response to the treatment. Your acupuncturist may also gently twirl the needles or apply a mild electrical current.

Removal: Needle removal is generally painless.

Individual variation: Sensations can vary from person to person based on their pain tolerance, and some first-time experiences may be more sensitive due to anxiety.

Finding the right provider: It is important to find an experienced and well-trained practitioner. If you feel pain during the procedure, it is important to inform your practitioner so they can make adjustments.

If people are very tense or having an emotional or mental stress pattern, they may perceive the needles as painful. Generally, deep breathing helps to calm the nervous system and the body and mind usually relaxes and a sense of calm is felt.

Thanksgiving is a beautiful reminder to pause and reflect on the blessings—big and small—that shape our lives. Whether you're gathered around a table with loved ones or spending the day quietly, gratitude has a way of deepening our connection to the moment and to each other.

Here’s a warm reflection on being grateful on Thanksgiving:

Gratitude Is a Lens, Not Just a List

Thanksgiving isn’t just about naming what we’re thankful for—it’s about seeing the world through a lens of appreciation. That morning coffee, the laughter of a friend, the comfort of a warm home—gratitude turns the ordinary into something sacred.

Honoring Traditions and Making New Ones

Whether it’s Grandma’s stuffing recipe or a walk through the autumn leaves, traditions root us in memory. But gratitude also invites us to create new rituals—ones that reflect who we are now and who we’re becoming.

Giving Thanks for People, Not Just Things

It’s easy to list possessions, but the real magic lies in the people who show up for us. A kind neighbor, a supportive colleague, a friend who listens—Thanksgiving is a chance to say, “I see you. I appreciate you.”

Gratitude as a Bridge

In a world that often feels divided, gratitude can be a bridge. It reminds us of our shared humanity, our common hopes, and the simple joys that unite us.

Happy Thanksgiving,

Lekha

Research suggests acupuncture is a promising, effective, and clinically meaningful treatment for PTSD, with recent studies showing it significantly reduces PTSD symptoms.

This efficacy may stem from acupuncture's ability to regulate the central nervous system, the hypothalamic-pituitary-adrenal (HPA) axis, and neurotransmitter levels, thereby reducing anxiety, depression, and improving sleep and fear responses.

Acupuncture helps the body adapt to seasonal changes by balancing the body's Qi (vital energy) and harmonizing Yin and Yang forces according to Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM). Each season is linked to specific organs, emotions, and energy patterns, so acupuncture treatments can be tailored to support the body's transition, strengthen the immune system, boost energy, and maintain emotional and physical well-being throughout the year.

How Acupuncture Helps with Seasonal Transitions

• Five Element Theory: TCM associates specific seasons with particular organs and corresponding emotions. For example, the Lung is linked to autumn, and the Liver to spring. Acupuncture can balance the energy of these organs to help you adapt more smoothly to seasonal changes.
• Qi and Blood Flow: Seasonal shifts can affect your body's energy flow, leading to fatigue or other imbalances. Acupuncture helps to restore the optimal circulation of Qi, which can improve vitality and overall well-being.
• Yin and Yang Balance: Seasons represent a shift between Yin (cool, dark) and Yang (warm, bright) energies. Acupuncture can help maintain the balance between these forces, preventing conditions like Seasonal Affective Disorder (SAD) by strengthening Yang energy during darker months.
• Emotional & Physical Well-being: TCM emphasizes the connection between emotions and organs. Seasonal acupuncture can address emotional imbalances and physical symptoms, such as fatigue, lethargy, or seasonal allergies, by restoring balance to the body's organ systems.

Acupuncture can be an effective, complementary treatment for upper back pain by stimulating the nervous system to release natural pain-relieving chemicals, reducing inflammation, improving blood circulation, and relaxing tight muscles. From a Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) perspective, acupuncture restores the balanced flow of vital energy (Qi) through meridians, unblocking stagnant energy and addressing imbalances in organ systems like the Gallbladder and Bladder.

Studies have shown acupuncture can reduce chronic upper back pain for up to 12 months, though a professional, trained practitioner should always administer the treatment.

Absolutely, that tiny little needle might be the unsung hero of your afternoon. 🌿

Acupuncture, the ancient practice rooted in Traditional Chinese Medicine, is all about restoring balance in your body’s energy flow—or Qi as it's called.

Here's how those fine, hair-thin needles might just be the pick-me-up your day needs:

✨ Potential Benefits of Acupuncture

- Stress Relief: Stimulating certain points may help release endorphins, your body's natural feel-good chemicals.
- Increased Energy: Regular sessions can help reduce fatigue and give you a noticeable boost.
- Improved Mood: Many people report feeling relaxed and mentally clearer afterward.
- Pain Reduction: It’s often used for chronic pain, headaches, and muscle tension.
- Better Sleep: By calming the nervous system, it may promote deeper, more restful sleep.

It’s pretty wild that something so gentle can make such an impact, isn’t it? If you've ever tried it—or are thinking about it—we’d love to hear what sparked your interest. Or if you want to explore other wellness traditions like cupping, acupressure, Neoclassical Acupuncture or Qigong pressure points, contact Lekha and let your healing and wellness journey begin.

Acupuncture may be a helpful complementary therapy for managing anxiety symptoms. Studies suggest it can reduce anxiety levels by stimulating the release of feel-good hormones and potentially lowering stress hormones like cortisol. While more research is ongoing, acupuncture has shown promise as an effective and safe alternative or adjunct to conventional anxiety treatments, with fewer side effects.

How Acupuncture May Help:

Hormone Regulation:
Acupuncture may stimulate the body's natural release of endorphins and other neurochemicals that promote relaxation and reduce stress.

Nervous System Reset:
By stimulating specific points on the body, acupuncture may help regulate the nervous system, potentially shifting it from a state of "fight-or-flight" to one of relaxation.

Mind-Body Connection:
Acupuncture emphasizes the connection between mind and body, potentially helping individuals to become more aware of their physical and emotional responses to stress.
