NOW OFFERING CUPPING THERAPY!

How Does Cupping Work?

The cups are made of glass, plastic or silicone. A vacuum is created in the cups, then placed on your body, where the skin, fascia, and connective tissue are drawn into the cup. This suction draws blood flow to the area while creating space between all the layers of your body.

Does Cupping Hurt?

If cupping is done right it should not hurt. You do feel pressure applied during the suction. Cupping marks are NOT bruises and will fade within 2-10 days.

What are the benefits of Cupping?

• Decrease pain
• Increase range of motion
• Promotion of relaxation
• Promotion of healing after an injury
• Regulate the nervous system
• Lymphatic drainage
• Decrease inflammation of joints
• And Much More!

S N O W D A Y

A snow day like today means a lot of shovelling. Shovelling doesn't have to leave you stiff and sore. Here are some key things to remember when shovelling today!

Before you start shovelling:
❄️ Drink plenty of water.
❄️ Dress in several layers so you can remove a layer as you get warm.
❄️ Wear proper footwear.
❄️ Pick the right shovel. Use a lightweight, non-stick, push-style shovel. A smaller blade will require you to lift less snow, putting less strain on your body.
❄️ Warm-up for 5 to 10 minutes before beginning any snow removal to get your joints moving and increase blood circulation. A brisk walk will do it.

Three things to remember when shovelling:
❄️ Push the snow, don’t throw it
❄️ Bend at your knees
❄️ Watch for ice

Stay safe everyone and happy snow day!⛄️

B A C K P A C K 1 0 1 🎒
The school year is here which means new school supplies. Kids love getting a new backpack but it is very important to teach them how to properly use their backpack and avoid injury. Carrying a heavy load that isn’t properly distributed can cause poor posture and even distort the spinal column.

Here ares some tips:
🎒Choose the right backpack
- lightweight vinyl or canvas material
- Two side, adjustable, padded shoulder straps along with a padded back
- Should also have a hip or waist strap with plenty of pockets.

🎒Pack the backpack properly
- Only things needed for the day
- Weight is evenly distributed in the bag
- The total weight of bag filled should not be more than 10-15% of your child’s body weight.

🎒Put it on safely
- Pack on a flat surface, at waist height
- Have your child slip on the pack one shoulder at a time and then adjust the straps to fit comfortably.

🎒Wear it right
- Child uses both shoulder straps
- Backpack should be adjusted to fit snugly to the child’s body, without dangling to the side. You should be able to slide your hand between the backpack and your child’s back.

⭐️More than 50% of young people experience at least one episode of low back pain by their teenage years.

⭐️Remember Pack it light and wear it right!

P E L V I C F L O O R M U S C L E S

The pelvic floor muscles are very important muscles that support the bladder, bowel and uterus. During pregnancy, pelvic floor muscles support the baby and contribute to the birthing process.

When you hear a friend say when I laugh, sneeze or cough I p*e myself a little. This is not normal! Their pelvic floor muscles are weak and they need to be strengthened. This does affect many women after pregnancy but men are also affected.

Kegel exercises are among the most popular pelvic floor exercises. It is very important to make sure you are doing these exercises correctly. See how a chiropractor or physiotherapist can help you strengthen those pelvic floor muscles.
