Independent play is an important skill, and many parents feel proud when their child can entertain themselves. But children also learn a great deal through shared play, interaction, and connection with others. Those moments of playing together help build communication, social understanding, and back-and-forth interaction that supports language development.
If you’re noticing that your child prefers to play alone most of the time or seems less interested in interacting with others, it can be helpful to explore what might be behind that.
If you have questions about your child’s communication or social development, the Hello Speech team is here to help. Reach out to learn more.
