Music can be a powerful source of joy and comfort for people with dementia and for those around them. When words fail, music provides a way for the person with dementia to connect with others and engage with memories and emotions. Alzheimer Symptoms: Impaired judgment or ability to make decisions, plan or organize is more likely to be the initial symptom, as opposed to the memory loss often associated with the initial symptoms of Alzheimer's. Occurs from blood vessel blockage or damage leading to infarcts (strokes) or bleeding in the brain. The location, number and size of the brain injury determines how the individual's thinking and physical functioning are affected.

"Truly we don't know what we would have done without Royal Canadian Health Care. We were out of the country and our mother had to get to the hospital fast. Within an hour, Royal Canadian Health Care arranged a caregiver to go with our mom in the ambulance and stay with her until we arrived. How great was that?

In 2016 The official Journal of the American Academy Neurology published a study finding a link between abnormal breathing patterns during sleep like heavy snoring and apnea, and a cognitive decline at an earlier age than normal and researchers from New York University studied 2,500 people between the ages of 55 and 90 who had Alzheimer’s disease and found those with breathing problems were diagnosed with mild cognitive impairment an average of 10 years earlier that people with no sleep breathing problems.
