Personal Trainer or Coach?
{rant incoming} 🧠

I often go back and forth on the title of my career, and although most people don’t care, the definitions of both differences show case exactly what each is. {continue reading to see what I mean}

Personal trainer is defined as “a fitness service where a certified professional, known as a personal trainer, works one-on-one with an individual to provide customized exercise programs, guidance, and motivation to help them achieve their fitness goals”

Seems to commercial and “goodlife” ish for my liking.. sorry peeps.

A coach however is defined as “an individual who guides, instructs, and supports others in developing skills, achieving goals, or navigating challenges. Coaches can be found in various fields, such as sports, personal development, business, and life coaching. Their role involves providing guidance, feedback, and encouragement to help individuals or teams reach their full potential”

A coach provides more to the individual or to the group. Educating and instructing, rather than just providing a plan and being present. How many times have you seen trainers sit there with a clip board in silence, when a coach is present, he’s engaged, involved and committed to the being or team.

There’s my take 😉 and a glimpse on how I work hands on with my clients, as a coach.

Huge thank you to for keeping my nutrition and meals on track!

It goes to say everyone has obstacles and challenges on a daily basis, and one of my for years (post bodybuilding) was having meals prepared and accessible throughout the day.

Although I’m able to make the time in cooking my own meals, power kitchen Toronto has taken that task off my hands by providing meals that are catered to my macros and needs.

Best of luck to .performance & athlete

Since we started training together in 2016/17 we mapped out this day. I remember speaking with you asking you what your goals were, and the vision was way ahead of where you were at. Instead of focusing on your current season you said “I want to go pro” and the progression of each off season slowly turn into “I’m going to go pro”.

The milestones are endless and the work ethic was unmatched, you spent every minute of the day for the past 7 years for this exact moment.

You’re not about to make coach all emotional 😂 but it’s been a F**ken wild ride man, in the city and overseas you got my support 👊🏼

Coaching > Training

The point of this journey is to learn and grow. Not just get a crazy sweat! Don’t get me wrong, many of us just need a good ass kicking in the gym here and there, but the main priority during our time is for me to teach you something. With every session there should be a take away 👊🏼

But it’s been a minute! So what’s been going on since my last post?

- opening up of a new business I’ve been working on the past few months, if you’re a long term follow of mine or new here, you’ll still know I’m a huge coffee freak, deathly over decaf fam where you at! If you’re willing too… go support!
- Ran an event with ribfest Caledon
- Opening up more client training opportunities (6am will be soon available! Plus afternoon slots)

Be authentic 🤘🏼

To many times in this industry ego takes over, in a network of people who could potentially use one another to grow, becomes unhealthy competition. Unfortunately the only ones who get the short end of the stick is the paying customer and client.

I typically don’t make post on business and keep my page controversial free by posting movements and videos to help more people find health and wellness. But I feel as if this still flows with the themes!

Trainers need to listen to their clients and not the outside noise of proving they’re knowledge and experience by grueling workouts. There’s a time and place for them, however there’s also a time in place to see when your body is in need of a less intense workout. Mobility, reset, refresh, active recovery, and more are ways we as coaches can insure our clients aren’t being burned out (as a result of coaches needing to prove themselves). To me the ability to read a persons body language and giving them the tools beneficial in that moment is far more impressive than any other video of drop sets, heavy lifts and others.

Moral of this long post is to listen to your body, burn out is real, and most athletes and general population clients are doing more than just your workouts, so listen to their body!

Don’t take no for an option, have setbacks, imbalances, pain or life obstacles? Join the club, fix and correct what needs to be while working on what you can to get you there. Small steps forward are still lead into the right direction 👆🏼
