LOOKING FOR: baby clothes 0-6 months!
In 5 weeks this team will be reunited in Guatemala to teach another two courses to traditional birth attendants.
We are looking for baby clothes to bring with us. We don’t need hats or blankets as we have plenty of those left, just onesies, long and short, and any other little outfit you may want to send down with us.
Drop off would be next Thursday (Feb 5) at our clinic. Thanks for any support 🙏

And here we are again… 9 babies, some of which couldn’t or wouldn’t space out, even though we would be completely happy to have one birth every three days or so… 🤨 Two babies born at home, one at Royal Inland (due to a nursing shortage at VJH) and one born in the car on the way to the hospital. (all went well!) I guess that’s a 30% out of hospital rate ;-) As the year slowly wraps up, we have 8 more births left. Let’s hope they space out and we can all enjoy some quiet December moments 🕯️🎄

In BC, we screen for this rare disorder with the Newborn Screen which we offer to every family -also known as “heal prick” or “PKU” (although it should not be named that, as PKU is only one of the (original) disorders screened for).

Couple say screening for spinal muscular atrophy is crucial so children can get life-changing drugs.

Ten midwives in one room, for two days, with even more amazing labour and delivery nurses (from Kamloops and Kelowna) and family doctors, improving their emergency skills in the SOGC ALARM course 😍Our heads and hearts are full, and we’re grateful for our lovely colleague Jeanette Kleger for holding down the fort ❤️ (and catch three babies 😬) Shoutout to all the maternity care providers that still show up, improving their skills to be their safest selves for pregnant people, in a system that’s probably the scariest it has been in a long time 🙏
