Happy Funeral Fact Friday!
A death certificate is a legal document obtained by the funeral home after registering a passing with the Province. Not only does the registration process produce death certificates, it also produces the permits required for cremation or burial.
If you are dealing with anything in relation to your loved one's estate, it is likely that you will need a death certificate. Places such as banks, credit unions, law firms, government offices, etc, will likely need to see the original death certificate in order to help you access your loved one's accounts.
In British Columbia, death certificates cost $27.00, and can be purchased directly through the funeral home for up to a year following your loved one's passing.
