Our Head Chaplain on board AFM mentioned tonight, that Guinea has been usually hard, but what they found out that superseded all trials, was the Power of Prayer over this Nation. They mentioned seeing answers to prayer that they haven’t seen in a long time.

Other thing she mentioned that resonated with me is that they felt in their spirits that we should not worry about what is going to happen in this Nation. We came, we did what was called. The rest is on Him to keep accomplishing. We need to let go of anything that He’s not requiring further from us!

The biblical book of Samuel, God used his Prophets to keep the Word of God alive in the Nation (when his Levite Priests were basically non-existent). He has Believers here so we pray for strengthening of their spirits to stand in the Gap, to up hold God’ Standard and prevail against those forces of darkness. I still look over this city and say, “is it good?”.

This will be my last newsletter……. I’m on my way home!!!!

Sailing…. They are expecting mainly calm waters, there are a few thunderstorms and winds that we will be encountering. It’s 30C now, but we’ll be coming into 22-24C.

This vehicle contains one of the largest groups to disembark before sailing home.

It was as I suspected……..

I had long speculated that the chiefest among reasons for me being out here... was to come, pray & intercede. I must admit, I suspected this at first and was a little offset with the Call, I thought “why can’t I just do this from home?”, but I followed & obeyed.

From the moment I stepped foot on this land, I couldn’t shake the impression of Nehemiah from my mind. I had to hit the deck (streets) & pray! If you have been following, I have documented all along…answers to prayers, but one of the biggest is coming to light (as I have never walked in this capacity before).

Deb, a Missionary in Guinea for the last 25 years has been a contact for this city. Her daughter (Melodee) joined us on board as the Ships Security Officer onshore. Deb came over to say “we are going to miss you folks”. She mentioned she has returned from the USA (6 weeks) she could tell something had changed here in Guinea. I said, “What do you mean?” She said, “For #1, the garbage!” She said “I said to my daughter (Mel), the garbage, there’s no garbage!” “ Mel said “there’s garbage!” Deb said, “no, a mountain has been moved here, there is no garbage like there used to be!!!”.

God blessed me to hear that!. I shared with her what had been on my heart all this time. We have spoken only once before, but not about the garbage initiative (nor did I tell Mel)! She said, “the other thing you can pick up and sense in this land is that the atmosphere! It’s incredibly different than it used to be” She said, “we’re almost afraid to let you guys go as so much has been accomplished in this land here”.

As I shared with Alusine (my garbage collector & Pastor friend) what was next on my heart, he said “for your time here, sometimes the Lord is looking for someone to stand in the Gap”. I stopped as it resonated through my being. Ezekiel 22:30 “I looked for someone among them who would build up the wall and stand before me in the gap on behalf of the land”.

The verse before it that gripped me even more!!!. “The people of the land practice extortion and commit robbery; they oppress the poor and needy and mistreat the foreigner, denying them justice. ” Just one more prayer, just one more prayer!

With 1257 crew members that pass through our Port doors, we managed to touch the lives of 2,846 (& that’s just surgeries) Guineans in one way or another.

We will be hosting our goodbye party for our Day Workers who have been with us this entire trip! It will be bitter-sweet not seeing their faces always smiling, saying how-are you?

Some (especially the “Pastor” Day workers) have made a lot of effort to reach out to all of us and ensure that we are cared for & walking our journey into theirs.

I give thanks for some excellent, excellent connect I made while here.

Tonight, we also held the first ever Graduation Ceremonies on Africa Mercy.

It has been the first time that families commitment didn’t end before the Mission Run was up. 3 Girls; Dr. Gary Parker’s daughter (Carys), the Ships Managing Director’s daughter (Lara Palmer), and Michelle Marx (the Chief Engineer’s daughter).

The worship songs they chose, the speeches they gave ……. Holy Smokes, what caliber of education is being taught on Ship. Yep, this also happens to be a plug for any teacher’s out there looking for something to do!!!

Here’s a sample of one of the worship songs they chose… it blew me away…… http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jVjrcrf7Hq8

I cannot believe it’s almost done!

One more week before we set sail! This packing up is even ahead of schedule, so we may even be leaving a day or two early!

We had our first “At Sea” fire drill today!! My job now is to hand out life jackets. Time is getting close for me, I’m a little nervous when it comes to sailing in rough seas.

Apparently our ship aright itself in 9 seconds vs 15 for most other ships when she rolls! AFM’s sail is like “constant sway from side to side, and when the sea is rough it’s back & forth, side to side”. A good rock & roll (more rock I hope)!

I’m right in the smudge of the pic!
