Beyond Body Coaching

Beyond Body Coaching We help women get strongAF, build their dream bodies, and ditch the diet rollercoaster FOR GOOD.

04/18/2023

Before Elysia reached out she felt trapped in a body that didn’t feel like hers.

She had tried everything from Chloe Ting workouts to the egg diet. She got stuck in this misinformation that plagues many women and started to severely restrict food, eating around 900 calories a day or trying to skip eating entirely.

Her story is not unique, unfortunately.

So many women struggle in their bodies, torn between wanting to build radical self-acceptance yet still wanting to lose weight.

I tell clients “it’s all about the come-from”.

When you build a lifestyle that’s fueled by:
✅ Eating a healthy, balanced diet that brings you JOY and doesn’t restrict.
✅ Moving your body to feel strong, flexible, empowered, and full of energy.
✅ Re-framing your body image to love and accept your body for all its dimples, jiggly bits, and scars.
✅ Learning tools to help you get rid of negative self-talk, build rock solid habits, and look at challenges as opportunities.

That’s when your body changes, permanently.

So if you’re stuck on the “I’ll start again Monday” train.

And you keep telling yourself “I’ll reach out when life settles down”.

And you keep trying on your own, feeling like nothing is working.

This changes now.

All you have to do is reach out.

We’re accepting 1:1 coaching clients who want to lose 15+lbs without restricting food or following strict meal plans.

The “easy” button is the one that says “apply for 1:1 Coaching”❤️💪

One of the hardest cycles I went through with my fitness journey was spinning wheels with my all-or-nothing mentality.

If someone brought chocolate to work, the day would end in pizza and chips.

If I missed a workout, it took me a week to get back to it (on a Monday, of course).

You and I both know that these arbitrary things that we tell ourselves are failures, aren't.

The space in between the ALL and the NOTHING, that's *actually* where success lives.

It's not ONLY eating our healthy meals that we had planned.

It's not 5 hardAF workouts a week or sitting on the couch feeling guilty.

It's not going to a restaurant with friends and either eating rabbit food or ordering the nacho tower and margs.

It's not feeling like life is peachy all the time and ignoring that your nervous system feels like a burning dumpster fire.

Your 👏 success 👏 lives 👏 in 👏 the 👏 messy 👏 middle 👏

But damn, it can be hard to relax there.

If you're nodding your head, scrolling through endless workouts and recipes on IG but still seeing that nothing sticks..

We have 48 hours left of the best coaching promo we've ever had (and probably ever will).

Apply now (in bio) or DM me "Black Friday" and you'll save up to 1500$ on coaching.

We have TWO friggin spots left 🥳

It's glute gains szn 🍑

I've been training my glutes 2-3x/week for a min now (ok like years tbh), with a few specific protocols that I'm going to share with ya ⤵️

First, I must remind ye gym babes..
..If gains is thy goal, food is thy friend.

You absolutely can not, will not build a badonk if you are undereating.

Bump up the carbs. Bump up the protein. Be consistent. Tis the season anyway 🍪🤶

On to some glute training tips:

--> Use a variety of different rep ranges.
I train my big compound lifts first, when I can build the most strength, aiming for of 4-7 reps. Other lifts will move into the 8-12 rep range, with a few accessories coming in at 15-20. I train BBHTs (Barbell Hip Thrusts) in all of those ranges throughout the week.

--> Choose 2-4 exercises where the glutes are loaded maximally while stretched (back squats, deadlifts, lunges, step ups, leg press etc.)

--> Choose 2-4 exercises where the glutes are loaded maximally while shortened (back extension, barbell hip thrust, gluten kickbacks, reverse hypers, etc).

*That will be a total of 10-20 sets per week, but plz Jesus use progressive overload. Ditch the b***y band circuits (or at least save them for the end of your workout) and train those juicy doubles like the strong badass you are.*

--> Focus on mind muscle connection by controlling each movement. Tossing the weight around while ego lifting won't be as effective as intentional, controlled, movement.

--> Use your whole ass. Target different ranges of motion, angles, and planes of movement. If you're serious about butt stuff, learn your hip anatomy, the direction of muscles fibers, insertion/origins, and plz plz don't forget to move dem hips through internal rotation (90/90s are your friend).

Like this post, save it, then get yo ass to work 😘🍑

There's 2 reasons I loved/love bodybuilding (and they might not be what you think).

I have always felt like I'm on a world of my own, on one side wanting to prioritize *deep* health, not needing validation from others, loving my body in all it’s sizes, and finding a balanced and sustainable way with my diet and exercise.
.On the other side there’s also a part of me that LOVES the bodybuilding world for some of the habits and insight it has helped me cultivate, that applies to everything inside and outside of the gym.

I know that most will say that the bodybuilding world represents the opposite of what I shared above, but is it?

Now full disclaimer, I actually don’t think most people should ever compete.

The 2 main reasons I loved it for so long...

1️⃣ There is no better pursuit to teach time management.

Competition prep is an extremely time consuming pursuit. Meal prep, strength training, cardio, posing sessions, *sleep*.. every single minute of the day is put to good use.

Every day is organized down to the timing of meals, grocery hauls, and gym times.

This is where I learned how to make the best use of every second in my day.

2️⃣ Mindset & Inner bu****it.

The amount of mental gymnastics we play with ourselves (on a good day) is basically constant. Let’s revv that up to 100 and fuel it with the realization of being compared to bronzed gods/goddesses on a stage in front of hundreds of people.

Training my brain to push through the self-doubt, and consistently stay focused without letting emotions rule, is a skill that when applied to “regular life” makes for a much more enjoyable brain space.

Choosing to continue moving forward through resistance, despite anything that seems to get in your way, is a god damn skill that can pay off in any area in life: job hunting, continuing education, relationships, personal development.

Bodybuilding taught me skills that have paid off immensely in my life.

Forever grateful for the 7 years I spent competing, learning, failing, winning, and experiencing all of the growth that I did 💗💗

"I just lose motivation"

Sure. But what contributes to motivation?

⭐Energy & Recovery
--> Most of us undervalue how things like sleep, rest days, calorie and macronutrient intake can contribute to that feeling of WANTING to get a damn good workout in.
--> If you don't have a lot of skills in creating healthy habits with food, feel like you eat healthy, but don't really know how much you're eating, or find yourself run thin from a stressful life, this is probably where to start your focus.

Imagine a day where you feel FULL of energy, are full of life, and feel like you could run up a mountain -- how does your motivation to workout look?

⭐Training Enjoyment

--> Duuude, if you've only ever worked out to burn calories or hate your body into changing, this aint it.
--> Train like a badass. Improve your movement patterns, build flexibility and mobility, develop a neat party trick skill (like a handstand or pistol squat). HAVE FUN.
--> If you step into the gym feeling anxious and worried if you're doing things right, there isn't a lot of room for enjoyment here.

Imagine how you would feel knowing *confidently* that your form is f*cking badass and feeling connected in your movements.

⭐Adaptability & Flexibility

--> Do you have an all-or-nothing approach? It's either cardio every day, lift 5x/week or bust?
--> Give yourself options, like the normal, messy human you are. Having a range of options that fit into different shifts in schedule, energy, or equipment available will give you different versions of success.

REAL consistency means you move through different seasons of life without losing the effort you're putting in. This means giving yourself permission to get lightening round workouts in, walking for movement instead of HIIT classes, and substituting exercises when the gym is busy.

On top of this, if accountability & guidance to help you learn how to navigate these different situations is what you need...

Have you had your eye on working with us? 🙋‍♀️

And do you want to save some $$?

And maaaybe you also want to:
--> Lose 10+ lbs without restricting during the holidays
--> Want to see more muscle definition, and feel like a baddie in the gym
--> Re-prioritize yourself, so you can crush your goals both in fitness and in your career
--> Level up your confidence, wearing clothes or not ;)

If you're ready to play the long game with your body, and you want to build more consistency (without the gym or food scales taking over your life) keep reading...

The holidays are not easy. And most people will wait until the new year when life "settles down"... but let me ask you..

Why do you feel like you can't do this now?

I have a feeling it's because...
- life feels super busy and stressful
- you don't want to feel guilty eating your yummy holiday food
- you'll be holiday'ing a bit more

Well, hi. These are probably the themes that continue to cycle through your life when it doesn't feel like the "right" time.

I know, because i've been coaching women for 15 years and i've seen this play out.

This can stop today.

When you decide that you're worth it, that there is no "perfect" time, and that this idea of perfection is the reason it's been tough to stay consistent -- that's when you'll succeed.

I am a firm believer that the discomfort in our bodies happens when we are not acting in line with our values and goals.

I also believe that we are all 100% capable of changing our behaviors, owning our actions, and flipping the script.

SO

If you're ready to feel better in your skin, gain strides in your healthy habits, and step into the spring shorts feeling that glow up radiating through your body... this is your sign.

With our Black Friday promo, you get the gift of saving over 500$ on coaching & I'd love for you to take advantage of this type of support at the BEST possible price.

PS: most of our clients took all of the spots we had available for this with our earlybird offer, so there are only **5 spots left** before this closes.

First come, first serve.

You don't know what you don't know.

For many of us, however we see ourselves is what we accept our reality to be.

"I could never be consistent with nutrition without feeling restricted"

"I'm just not that 'gym person' and never will be".

"I struggle with feeling overwhelmed when I set goals."

The opportunity to change the narrative is always there.

You just have to be willing to seek discomfort, build trust in yourself, and in some cases, like the client quoted above, be willing to prove to yourself that you DO have the potential that you've always wondered about.

If you're looking for opportunities to make change, check out some of the content coming up this week for some Black Friday deals on coaching (and if you're not signed up to our email list, get on it because that's where the VIP experience starts --> click on any of the freebies in my bio to get in on the goods).

HELLO A few new faces here so I thought I'd share a little about me

A few randos:

I grew up in Saskatchewan and went to a Catholic high school. I was religious, went to Sunday school, and prayed before dinner. Not so much anymore, now the gym is my church, ha!

I got my first job at a gym when I was 18, after getting my first fitness certification. I fell in love with group fitness first, and taught step aerobics, spin classes, and bootcamps about 5-7x/week. I still kinda dig a good pilates class for a lil switch up and mood enhancement vs. actual body changing movement.

I did my first bikini competition when I was 22 (I actually think it was the first year that Instagram existed.. a totally different era of competitors back then), I placed top 5, and really fell in love with the challenge. I spent 7 years competing, and as a result ended up obsessed with food and exercise. See some of the freebies in my bio for the education, if you need some help here. You can hear the full story on my podcast "The Beyond Body Show".

I had cancer twice, being re-diagnosed a year ago before going through a hysterectomy (health is all good these days 💖). This was a slap in the face that helped me reimagine my life, my circle, and how I wanted to show up in life. This also gave me a push to leave a relationship that wasn't helping me grow, although we're still on good terms and have completely evolved as a result of the experience.

Travel is a huge passion of mine. I once quit my job and bought a one way ticket to Fiji, with the goal of putting myself in as many uncomfortable situations as possible. I've backpacked solo through Sri Lanka, Morocco, Malaysia, El Salvador, and been to a lot of wild & raw little pockets of the world. I even have the wrong GPS coordinates on my collarbone (accidentally got the tattoo shop's coordinates forever engraved into my collarbone while in Dublin.. oops).

Ok. Those are a few snippets about me. If there's anything here that surprised you, or you know a juicy detail about me that I should have added -- drop it below.

Let's hear it ;)

I'm always conscious of how many assumptions we have about others, even when we consciously try to avoid falling into this.

As a no BS coach, I think it's really important to walk the walk of what I teach, and hopefully help you quash some narratives of what you feel you *should* do with your health & fitness journey.

Now, before I share what works for me, understand that I went through years of learning how to make sense of the exercise and nutrition science out there to get here.

So...

Here's what my habits have looked like in the 3-4 months leading up to this photo:

Exercise:
+ 3-4 full body workouts per week (usually 3, and sometimes 2)
+ 1 hr or more walking with the monster known to you as Blue
+ Effort to include walking as much as possible for girl gabs, getting to/from places, and when stress is ma###ed out.

Nutrition:
+ Night cap of popcorn, almost every day
+ No macro tracking or weighing food (maybe 1 day a month) , but easily eating 1900 cals/day using portion sizes as a guide
+ Aimed for 1-2 days/week of takeout or restaurant food max
+ Limiting caffeine after 2pm

Lifestyle:
+ Sleeping 7hrs avg/night, with a few late nights here or there.
+ Dedicated time focusing on sun exposure and mindfulness
+ Stress management: Being transparent about my feelings by engaging in direct communication (this has been huge for me)
+ Puppy snuggles daily

Reasonable?

Through my 34 years learning how to take care of myself, i've figured out how to make things easy so that it isn't much effort to maintain... even when I feel like life is pulling me in so many directions.

What's been the easiest habit you've implemented?

PS. If you want to join the Nutrition for Newbs Masterclass - early bird pricing ends tomorrow at noon!

A haunted house but... it's just having no clue how to take care of the one thing that arguably has the biggest influence on your life and how you feel.

Ok, I'm a couple of days late on the trend, but that's still scary to me idk.

But seriously, this "I don't know how to eat" thing stops here.

We women have way too much to accomplish in life to let confusion and frustration around food limit us on the path to success.

You've probably heard the saying "you can't out train a bad diet", and it's true.

You also can't will and wish yourself to better energy, moods, performance, cravings, fertility, hormones, health, recovery, and yes.. fitting into the jeans.

Let's change the game.

➡️ Learn how to take nutrition into your own hands, through understanding the basics of metabolism, hormones, and food.

➡️ Get the exact steps you need to set up smart and non-restrictive goals for yourself (whether it's a meal plan system, flexible nutrition/macro goals, or intuitive eating).

➡️ Understand how to make adjustments to your diet to shapeshift your physique or hit your strength & performance goals, and how to listen to your body.

➡️ Strategies to help improve stress/emotional eating, consistency, and how to simplify meal prep.

Hi.

I'm Jen.

I spent way too many years struggling with trying to chronically diet my way to the body I wanted to build, while ironically building a pretty terrible emotional eating habit at the same time.

I also must say there are some pretty wild ideas out there from the internet, "influencers" and underqualified coaches of what the "best diet" is.

And I was not immune to falling for those shiny quick fixes too -- including that year I hired a bodybuilding coach who convinced me to rub cinnamon gel on my thighs and lock it in with neoprene shorts before cardio .. which did NOTHING but give me a burning va**na lollll 🫠).

The thing is that *you don't know what you don't know*, leading us to make choices that (unknowingly) often push us further away from where we want.

So it's time to make things make sense - for your unique life.

The Nutrition for Newbs Masterclass is going to be everything you need to make nutrition SIMPLE and easy to follow.

Think of this as your key to unlocking your body's potential.

A guiding light to all of the feel-good changes you want to see happening in your fitness.

Early registration opens tomorrow and I am STOKED to share this with you.

Stay tuned for the details 💓
