Which childbirth series should you take?

All of our childbirth preparation series are the same length - 12 hours - and cover all of the same topics. Mostly, it depends on your schedule and what works best for you!

Do you prefer to have shorter class sessions? Our weekday 2-hour classes might work well for you.
Do you prefer to have less days to attend classes? Our Saturday series might work well for you.

We have several options hoping to fit most families.

This lunar new year brings forth the Year of the Fire Horse.

According to Chinese astrology, Horse is confident, agreeable, and responsible, although they also tend to dislike being reined in by others. They’re fit and intelligent, adoring physical and mental exertion; they’re decisive but also easily swayed and impatient.

FAQ Friday!!

Who teaches our classes?

Great question. We often hear in the community "oh, those classes are taught by doulas - eyeroll". The fact is that yes, our instructors ARE doulas, however they are also extremely talented Certified Childbirth Educators. Every one of our instructors is required to have taken a Childbirth Educator program, complete a practicum, and continue education so we can provide evidence based information in our classes.

Currently, all of our teachers have also completed the same nursing elective that most RNs take to support lactation in the hospital.

So, all in all, our instructors are qualified, enthusiastic, and passionate about what we teach and helping families learn more about the childbirth process, postpartum, and baby care.

International day of women and girls in science

When, in 1903, Pierre Curie insisted that his Nobel Prize for Physics be shared with his wife, Marie, the world began a slow movement toward progress.

But, even Marie Curie had moved to France from her native Poland to find the opportunity to receive an education in science and to become a professor, simply because she was a woman in the late 19th century.

And now, more than 100 years later, women and girls in science are still typically being given fewer opportunities, less respect, smaller lab spaces, fewer grants and lower salaries than their male counterparts.

In 2015, the United National General Assembly made the decision to establish International Day of Women and Girls in Science to bring forward and promote the vital role that women play in the field of science.

Childbirth preparation classes are just as important for partners to take to learn more about supporting the birthing person in labour. Spend time together learning more about labour and birth, learning the same information, and working as a team, just as you will during labour.

FAQ Fridays!

The scheduled classes don't work for me.

We run group classes 6 days a week, but sometimes a schedule is tricky, so we also offer private classes. Private classes can be scheduled during a time that works for your schedule. They are 4 hours in length for the childbirth preparation classes, and 2 hours for parenting the newborn. We are unable to provide private first aid classes.
