Sands Funeral Home Colwood is a drop-off location for The Shoebox Project, a charity that uplifts and empowers local women impacted by homelessness through gift-filled shoeboxes and messages of support.

Today, on Transgender Day of Remembrance, we pause with care to honour the transgender, Two-Spirit, and non-binary lives lost to anti-transgender violence.

We hold their families and communities in our thoughts, and we acknowledge the challenges many still face.

May this day remind us to choose kindness, support one another, and help create a community where everyone can live with dignity and safety.

🐾 Happy National Dog Day! Tuesday, August 26th. 🐾

At Sands Funeral Chapel – Colwood, we’re proud to live and work in our beautiful Westshore community. Today, we’re celebrating by introducing our manager Julie Evans’ two beloved pups:

✨ Olivia – a 16½-year-old Jack A Pooh with plenty of s***k! Despite her age, Olivia still loves her cuddles and exploring the world with curiosity and zest. She’s proof that age is just a number when you have a playful heart.

✨ Cleo – Julie’s loyal and beautiful Golden Doodle. Cleo loves spending time by the ocean, especially “fishing” in the water. Her adventurous spirit and gentle nature make her a truly wonderful companion.

At Sands Funeral Chapel-Colwood, we believe in supporting the communities we serve with compassion, generosity and a commitment to values rooted in care, dignity, and respect.

Manager Julie Evans had the priviledge of presenting a $7000 donation to Our Lady of the Rosary Parish in Langford, BC, in support of their New Church Building Fund. The donation was gratefully received by Father Hann and the parish congregation.

This gift was made possible through the generosity of the Arbor Memorial Foundation, and we extend our sincere thanks for their continued support of meaningful community projects.

I had the pleasure of presenting a generous donation to the Victoria Chapter of B.A.C.A. (Bikers Against Child Abuse).

This cause is very near and dear to my heart. No child deserves to live in fear, and B.A.C.A. works tirelessly to ensure children feel safe in the world in which in which they live. Their mission is to empower children and help them find strength during difficult times.

I’m grateful for the opportunity to support their work and to stand behind such an important organization.
