💛 Your gift goes twice as far.

Big news! As we head into Giving Tuesday, a generous group of donors has created a $125,000 matching gift to support the essential and transformative work of Victoria Hospice!

This means every donation for Giving Tuesday will be doubled to help provide free, in-person grief counselling for kids in our community.

Children like Eli need our support now more than ever. Together, we can help ensure no child grieves alone.

At Victoria Hospice, our Child and Youth Bereavement Program is the only free, in-person counselling service for kids in our region. Our counsellors works in schools, homes and at our Community Support Centre to help children understand their feelings and begin to heal.

This program is completely reliant on the generosity of donors like you.

Together, we can ensure no child has to grieve alone.

November 18 is National Grief and Bereavement Day.

On this day, all Canadians are encouraged to reflect and to engage government and all sectors of Canadian society in a national dialogue to identify and support access to the necessary resources for those living with grief and bereavement.

When personal connection matters most, many who are grieving feel alone, misunderstood, and unsupported. Even well-meaning friends and family often struggle to provide comfort or guidance in the ways that are most helpful.

There are things you can do, and resources you can draw on, if you or someone you know is struggling with grief and bereavement.

Our Story

Victoria Hospice is a registered charity that has provided end-of-life care focused on palliative treatment since 1980. Our nurses, counsellors, spiritual caregivers, physicians, and trained volunteers provide comfort for the patient and support for the family, rather than a cure for progressive and life-limiting illness.

Care is offered in patients’ homes, within our 17-bed in-patient unit, and as specific medical consultation to patients in other health care facilities. Over 300 trained volunteers provide companionship and support. Victoria Hospice offers bereavement support to families for up to one year following a death.

Roughly 50 percent of Victoria Hospice's annual operating costs are funded through community donations. Funds are raised from a variety of sources, including private donations, foundation grants, corporate sponsorships, and fundraising events.
