We're Hiring!

Disability Inclusion & Awareness Trainer (Trainee) – Victoria, BC

We run Disability Inclusion & Awareness Training out in the community (businesses, organizations, teams), and we’re looking for someone new to train up and join us.

This is not a stiff, read-from-the-slides kind of gig.

Our sessions are:

Interactive
Discussion-heavy
Full of real questions (some great, some awkward, some… very real)

If you like talking with people, can think on your feet, and don’t mind the occasional curveball question — you’ll probably enjoy this.

About the role:

Casual hours (they vary depending on bookings)
$18.25/hour to start
You’ll be trained, supported, and then gradually step into leading sessions
Sessions happen both in-person and on Zoom

You might be a good fit if you:

Have lived experience with disability (required)
Like engaging with people (even the quiet or skeptical ones)
Have some experience presenting (formal or informal counts)
Can handle difficult participants without taking it personally
Have a sense of humour (this helps a lot)
Are okay with conversations that don’t follow a script

Important:
This position is for persons who have a disability.

Interview process:
If selected, you’ll be asked to do a 10-minute presentation (with slides — printed or electronic) on a topic of your choice. Nothing fancy, we just want to see how you engage a group.

For more info or tol apply, visit our Careers page: https://drcvictoria.com/get-involved/volunteers/careers-at-the-vdrc/

We’re a small, disability-led team, and we care a lot about the work — but we also like to keep things human, real, and sometimes a bit funny.

Happy to answer questions if you’ve got them.
