We just couldn’t be the team that we are if it weren’t for our office manager, Jennifer!

We are excited! We are re-opening soon under the recommendations of the Public Health Officer of BC. We are making sure we have everything in place for you to come back to the clinic under the new guidelines.
We miss you! We understand that this is a very trying process for everyone and we are as eager as you are to return to welcoming you to Fix. It’s been so long! Thank you for your patience!

A message in response to this week's media release:

When Tuesday night's news about a potential COVID exposure at Fix was aired, we were as surprised as you - that was the first news we had heard of it as well. We learned the hard way that VIHA protocol does not include contacting affected businesses prior to a media release. Ideally we would have liked to reach out personally to the people who were in clinic those days so that we could have provided you with any information we had and to answer your individual questions.

We were finally able to speak with a VIHA representative late yesterday. Although getting in touch individually with our patients would have been our preference, the VIHA representative said that individual patient notification is not necessary and that is why they do the media releases. They said that all people in Victoria, not just people who have been to Fix, should be social distancing and monitoring for symptoms. They suggested that people review the information on the BCCDC and VIHA websites:

Due to understandable patient confidentiality reasons, VIHA cannot release any information about the affected person. They were able to confirm that the potential exposure was at the Downtown clinic, not at Selkirk, and that the person was present at the clinic on both of the days in question (14th and 16th). There were multiple people present both days.

As reassurance, we can say that in particular during those few weeks before we closed we had an increased focus on cleaning in clinic including special sanitizing cleaning sessions, using medical grade cleansers, and the extensive use of disinfectants which all staff were using between patients. This was in addition to our usual practices of excellent hand hygiene - hand washing and hand sanitizer.

Dear Fix Healthcare community:

Given the recent Provincial Health Officer’s recommendations, we will be temporarily closing our clinic doors in order to protect our staff, patients, and communities. As of March 19th both Fix Healthcare clinics will be temporarily closed. We look forward to being able to open again, and are waiting on direction from the public health officer of B.C. Please stay updated on our website, Facebook, and on our online booking page.

Please note that our current movement class cancellations will remain in effect after reopening until further notice.

Feel free to send us an email with any questions or concerns about your upcoming appointments. You can reach us at fixhealthcarevictoria@gmail.com. We will not be answering calls during this time as we are advising all Fix clinic staff to follow the provincial social distancing recommendations and not come in to work. Did you know that we offer Kinesiology appointments at both our Downtown and Selkirk studios?

There is a wide range of concerns that a Kinesiologist may be able to help you with, including general neck/back pain, soft tissue injuries, sports and MVA related injuries, and pre/post surgical rehab. Kin is covered by many insurance companies as well as by ICBC.

Kinesiologists are human movement specialists offering a wide variety of assessments and services to assist with both injury/illness prevention and injury management. They will assess your physical function and then will create and guide you through a progression of specifically structured exercises tailored especially for you to enhance and promote the safe and dependable return to your regular life activities.

We are excited to welcome two new registered massage therapists to our team - Shelby Rose + Megan McManus!

Shelby’s passion for massage therapy stems from her lifelong love of science and her desire to help others. Her thorough understanding of the human body allows her to assess and treat a wide variety of conditions confidently and effectively. She typically uses trigger point release, active and passive pin and stretch, low grade joint mobilizations, and Swedish massage techniques in her treatments. She is known for her use of deep pressure, however, she can adjust to meet each individual patient's needs.

Megan was first introduced to massage therapy while teaching yoga at Fix Healthcare Selkirk and seeking relief from some knee pain due-to long distance running. After her first therapeutic massage treatment she was hooked and knew that helping athletes maintain healthy, balanced training through massage and patient education was what she wanted to do. She looks forward to working with weekend warriors, high performance athletes, or anyone that is looking to take on a more active lifestyle.
