This policy seems completely absurd, another attack against the black community. A simple solution for a simple, yet multifaceted, problem; the pathology of crime in the United States.

When will policymakers and politicians in the United States wake up and realize that their crime rate is so ridiculously high because of multifaceted issues that include a public education system that unfairly penalizes the poor, a taxation system that allows the rich to become more wealthy while the poor struggle to survive, one of the worst healthcare systems in the first world, a housing crisis where working class people can’t afford to live, and a gun control problem that is completely absurd and out of control.

The United States is a traumatized nation, the origins of which date back to slavery, forced assimilation, and the colonization of indigenous people. Those racist events have had tremendous impact on people in the United States, which has lead and contributed to existing problems that affect disenfranchised communities today. The racist agenda in the US has never stopped, it’s simply changed over time. This is something that can’t be ignored. The US’ trauma has also been compounded and made worse by a population that has had to struggle through a high number of proxy wars initiated by its government, and a highly promoted ideology that social services and government spending weakens society.

When, as a nation, is the USA going to stop implementing ridiculous, simple minded policies, and instead, recognize that it has to address the pathology of their high crime from a very multifaceted approach. If it wants to reduce crime, it must do so by comprehensive, free or affordable, social services that includes healthcare, mental health, substance abuse, housing, and education. And all of these service provisions need to be underpinned by a trauma informed approach that recognizes the historical and contemporary impact that racism has had within the United States. And that’s just the bare minimum of a standard when it comes to alleviating these issues.

Young people in multiple D.C. neighbourhoods are now under a nightly curfew as officials try to get a grip on a soaring crime rate — even though research shows the measures don't have much impact.

I recently watched this documentary film. It was quite good. Although the film doesn't speak directly to how traumatic experiences during childhood can profoundly impact the way we perceive relationships and process our world as adults, it certainly highlights this reality.

As we grow older, our traumatic experiences during childhood can cause us to become triggered to events that occur in our adult lives. This can result in us reacting to our environment and interpersonal relationships as if we are still that traumatized child. The end result can be a repeated pattern of difficult emotions and interpersonal relationships during adulthood. At the same time, the adult often seeks to resolve those traumatic childhood experiences through their own resilience and life choices. This process was notable in the film, particularly as it relates to Ms. Anderson's attempts to create a loving family for her and her sons.

The film gives the impression of a woman who, despite having survived immense trauma during childhood, keeps striving to acquire what she always deserved as a child, to be loved, respected, and safe. There is such a sense of resilience in this film. I found it to be truly inspiring. Ms. Anderson demonstrates a profound intolerance towards anyone who is not going to give her and her sons what they truly deserve. That's admirable and inspiring.

The film also illustrates the misogynistic sickness within our society, how women are s*xualized and objectified. The most poignant part of the film is when Ms. Anderson speaks about being a s*x object for many of the men she had intimate relationships with, but once she spoke her opinion or demonstrated autonomy, she was physically abused in an attempt to knock her back into place, that of a s*x object.

I remember when this "s*x tape" came out during the advent of the internet. I never understood how anyone could watch it, as it was made without consent, making it completely illegal and exploitive. But this is the world we live, if a dollar or entertainment can be made from someone else's pain, then the wheels of capitalism keep on rollin. The film illustrates this toxic, exploitive, and misogynistic phenomena within our society.

I have a lot of respect for Ms. Anderson, based on this film. It was was quite brave and contained a great deal of honesty and integrity. She really put herself out there for other's to see. And despite how horribly she has been treated, she remains resilient and fierce. The film was quite inspiring.
