Building Blocks Behaviour Consulting & Support Services

Building Blocks Behaviour Consulting & Support Services a local behaviour consulting and counselling therapy service in Victoria, B.C. that works with neurodiverse children and adolescents and their caregivers.

We strongly believe in a strength-based, family-centered approach that focuses on the strengths and capacity of individuals and their families. We believe that families know their children best and that children with a diagnosis are children first. Our work is deeply rooted in the principles of Applied Behavior Analysis and Cognitive Behaviour Therapy, with a strong foundation in evidence-based, effective practices. We will sit down and prioritize goals with families and individuals prior to any assessments, and then focus on functional acquisition and generalization of skills and tools into the natural environment We use a balance of one-to-one Intensive training opportunities, parent and family coaching and Natural Environment Training. We believe all assessments, progress evaluations, and outcomes need to be individualized, measurable, thorough, and socially valid. We are strong proponents of Positive Behaviour Support using preventative approaches, teaching and reinforcing new skills and behaviors. We believe that professionals need to stay updated and informed on the research and practices in this field and learn from other disciplines and theoretical approaches. We look forward to working collaboratively with school and community-based teams and other clinical professionals with you.

It's with a heavy heart and some profound sadness that I have to say, it's our last day operating as a Centre. I am so thankful for all of the families, children, caregivers and colleagues I have had the opportunity to teach and learn from throughout these years. It has been an honour to work with you and I hope that we have made a positive impact on your lives.
My next adventure....I will continue to offer my services as a Clinical Counsellor and will continue to practice in a very small way as a parent coach/ home based support for families. I will be working with Island Health at their Ledger House Inpatient Mental Health program for children and youth. It's exciting to be back at Queen Alexandra in this new capacity.....and I will dearly miss all the amazing work we did at our centre.
Thank you all for the ability to work with your families❤❤❤
