Herbs from the last bouquet:
Mullen is a great plant to turn to in any form of lung condition, such as COPD, smoker's lung, pneumonia, even the common chest cold. The flowers infused in oil make an excellent drop for ear ache and infection. Use the leaves to make tea but be sure to strain the tiny hairs.
Borage is known as ‘The plant that cheers.’ it restores adrenal function after steroid use or prolonged stress, mental exhaustion, and depression. Borage may used to prevent inflammation of the stomach and intestines in such conditions as: colitis, gastritis, gastric ulcer, or Crohn’s disease. It is excellent used externally for soothing rashes and inflammation, and as a re-moisturizer. Use the leaves to make a refreshing cucumber-like tea. Excellent as iced tea.
Spearmint is most well known it's calming effect on the stomach, just like it's close relative Peppermint. Did you know that mints also can reduce a fever, and calm the nervous system to produce a sense of inner ease, reducing tension and depression? However, mint can aggravate a hiatus hernia.
Oregano is well known for it's anti-infective properties. Use this herb as tea in a respiratory steam and neti pot to fight sinus infections on contact. Do not put the oil in your neti pot. Like it's cousin mint, it will soothe upset stomach, and also fight infections in the digestive tract, as well as urinary system. Used on skin it fights acne, dandruff, and disinfects small wounds.
