Worried your eyesight isn’t good enough for driving anymore?

Drivers must be able to pass cognitive, general health and vision tests. In BC, drivers must meet specific visual acuity standards, such as no less than 20/50 vision and a continuous 120-degree visual field in at least one eye. Once you turn 80 years old, you’ll be tested every year to retain your license.

Have you heard the story about the Copper Rockfish in the Vancouver Aquarium?

In 2015, the fish developed cataracts and had its eye removed. To prevent the fish from being bullied and attacked by other fish, a team led by Dr. Martin Haulena anesthetized the fish and surgically inserted a prosthetic eye.

The first ever surgery of its kind was a success – the Copper Rockfish reintegrated into the tank, lived happily, and was no longer pestered by other fish.
