On World Spine day I want to remind all of my former patients to care for their spinal health and overall well being. Chiropractic care has helped millions of people regain and maintain their best health by offering a wide variety of treatments backed by both clinical studies and experimental science. As you know, I offered laser therapy, orthotics, sports equipment and training evaluations, exercise therapy programs, manual and mechanical massage, electro acupuncture, activator and manual chiropractic adjustments, continuous passive motion therapy, supplement and nutritional information, as well as diagnostic services and referral services to other health care providers. Ask for guidance and follow the advice of your chiropractor to stay healthy in these challenging times. Thank you all for the privilege of being your doctor of Chiropractic for 37 years, I truly appreciate all of your well wishes for my retirement and I enjoyed every day with you in our clinic.

For those of you looking for a Chiropractor who uses the movement table that I used in my practice ( a Leander table) Dr. James Elder downtown on Blanchard St. is very experienced with this type of treatment. I highly recommend him.

Remember the signs that I had posted in my waiting room:"Five Dangerous Words: Maybe it will go away"; It's Easier to Stay Well than to Get Well; Optimal Health is not simply the absence of the Symptoms of Dis-ease, but is your best state of Physical, Mental and Spiritual well - being; You are what you Assimilate- your positive thoughts, fresh air and water, nutritious food, and activity; Be Grateful for Everything; Humans need 3 things: Something to do, Someone to Love and Something to Hope for; No-one and No thing can make you Happy, because you will always fear losing them/it, Happiness is not a place you arrive at, but a way of travelling; Be Grateful, Hopeful, Happy, Active and Positive in your Life.
Best wishes Always, Dr. Wayne

I will be retiring from practice on October 24, 2020. The other practitioners in our office will be continuing from other locations. It has been an honour and a pleasure to treat you all over the last 37 years and I wish you all the best.

I am in the office Tuesday to Saturday, and as required by the Provincial Health officer and the College of Chiropractors of B.C., during the COVID-19 pandemic, chiropractors can only treat patients in person when providing "emergent, urgent and / or essential care'. If you are in pain or have a chronic condition that requires care you need to schedule an appointment ( drop in treatment is not permitted) and Dr. Walker will interview you by phone to confirm that you require care and to assess your risk for COVID-19 infection. You cannot drop in to be interviewed, so please call Sherry at 250-727-2790. We are spacing out our appointments to ensure social distancing and fulfilling all the public health requirements to ensure a safe treatment environment for you and for us. Take care.

04/29/2020

I will be in the office for urgent care patients this week, including Saturday morning. We are following the public health guidelines, spacing patients out so only one patient is in the office at a time, and our building is mostly empty so it is very easy to maintain social distancing coming and leaving. You can use our online booking or call Sherry at 250-727-2790 and we will accommodate you in a safe fashion. If you have a fever, cough, difficulty breathing or loss of taste or smiell, please call 811 and be evaluated immediately. Be Safe and take care.

03/23/2020

Your health and safety are my highest priority, and this week, to keep our essential services open, I am available to treat urgent care patients under the strict conditions of our public health officer, Tuesday to Friday. Our office building is almost completely empty, so you are unlikely to encounter others when you enter or leave, and we are spacing patients out so that you will be the only patient present at that time, allowing us to disinfect between visitors. Please do not schedule an appointment if you have a fever, dry cough and difficulty breathing, call 811 and self quarantine immediately. Last week I treated many of our essential personnel,- paramedics, pharmacists, grocery workers, truck drivers, bus drivers, etc.,- so please take all precautionary measures to ensure that they and I can continue to work. I will remain available as much, and as long as possible under the circumstances, and please be safe and keep washing your hands, maintain your social distance, and keep healthy.

03/17/2020

Your health and safety are our highest priorities and our office is taking the recommended risk mitigation procedures to protect you and our community. If you have returned to Canada, your next appointment will follow your fourteen days of self quarantine, similarly if you think that you have been in contact with someone diagnosed with COVID-19, or you have fever, dry cough, and difficulty breathing, cancel your appointment and seek medical attention, call 811 for testing. We have removed all magazines, pamphlets, toys and other communal items from our waiting room and all office areas will be sanitized between each patient visit. We advise you to arrive for your appointment promptly, we will keep your waiting time to a minimum, and we ask that you follow hand hygiene protocol prior to your visit ( hand sanitizer and sink are available at all times in the office). If you are unwell please inform us and self quarantine, we are here for advice and for your health and safety, and will update our procedures based on the directives of the British Columbia health authorities.

When I first began my sportsmedicine practice in 1983 I saw many professional/Olympic athletes in my office but few teams had team Chiropractors. Now it is so gratifying to see that most professional sports teams as well as our national Olympic team, have staff Drs. of Chiropractic to treat and prevent injuries as well as to enhance their biomechanical performance. We have come a long way in the right direction!
