Hello Friends

Today was a joyful day at the Vita personal care home as it was a Christmas party for the residents and Santa for Seniors was there delivering gifts to the residents. The afternoon program consisted of the Greenridge choir singing Christmas carols as well as some Ukrainian carols sung by some folks, followed by coffee and desserts. I’m not sure who had more fun at the party - the residents or Susan and me! I hope you can see the joy in these folks receiving these gifts through your generous donations. They were so appreciative and happy! So thank you! Because of you, they were able to have a joyous day. We would like to thank the staff at the Vita personal care home for organizing this day. Thank you for all that you do!

On behalf of Susan Bordun and myself, may you all have a blessed Christmas! 🎄

A big thank you to the following: Nativity of St. Mary Senkiw Manitoba, GreenRidge United Church, and the Fosty family for your financial donations.
We truly couldn't fulfill our shopping lists for the residents of the Vita Personal Care Home and Vita District Hospital without your support.
Shopping for 55 people takes alot of planning and time.
The donors are the Santas.
Daria and I are the elves; packaging and delivering the gifts to all the residents.
We truly look forward to delivering gifts to the residents. The joy on their faces, they light up. It's truly a wonderful experience.

Daria and I would like to wish all a Merry Christmas.
May this Christmas season bring joy, peace, and happiness.

October 2023.
Where did summer go? September start of a new school year. The time has flown fast.
I was sent a reminder that there were how many Saturdays to Christmas. I looked: and you know not many.
Daria Gawronsky and I are drawing up our shopping lists, checking everything twice for essential hygiene products.
We are soliciting financial donations for Santa for Seniors Program. Daria Gawronsky and I will be starting our shopping for the residents in care. We purchase for 55 residents of the Vita Personal Care Home and Vita Hospital.
Again Covid is rearing its ugly head. We are realistically believing that we will be purchasing the essential products, delivering gifts as we did during Covid. Everything sterilized and sealed in bags.
We will give you details as we move forward. I really don't visualize visitation and dainty trays at this time. But we will keep you posted.
Vita Personal Care Home and other personal care facilities in Southeast Manitoba are experiencing Covid amongst it's residents. No visitation at this time presently. Many residents at the facilities are from many communities of southeast Manitoba.
The elderly have experienced low immunity to flu viruses and have weak and compromised autoimmune systems.
Please contact Daria or myself for more information. The Vita Credit Union has also been assisting us as well. Drop into the branch and make a donation. Or if you would like to make an anonymous donation please use the deposit box as well. Please mark on envelope Donation for Santa for Seniors.
Thank you once again for your assistance.

Christmas the season of joy, rebirth and hope.
The initiative for Santa for Seniors. Why is it so important? We are in the final weeks of shopping.
I had gone to visit mom at the Vita Personal Care Home for Christmas tea program. I was trying to slip a gift for Santa to pass out later. But the Santa visit was canceled.
There were residents with no family not receiving a gift to open. So to spare the residents anguish there were no gifts after lunch that day. Fellowship was being the focus of this days activity.
During that afternoon I heard whispers of longing. I got to know many people that lived in the PCH. My mother lived there 17 years.
Residents miss sharing with their families and everything familiar they once had.
The loneliness was overwhelming. Lack of community. The loss of not being amongst neighbors and places they knew well.
Living with strangers. Learning new routines.
Trust me it was a rude awakening. I never thought about it.
My primary focus was my mom and looking after her needs.
My goal: to have gifts for everyone to open. I rallied companies, rival companies, friends to salvage that Christmas.
Brandy from Crossroads Chatters donated all the shampoo. My dentist toothbrushes, my cousins and aunts. Car dealerships where I had trained staff answered my calls for assistance. Larry Vickar: Community Chevrolet, Rino Attardo: Waverly Mitsubishi, Eastern Dodge on Regent, Subaru on Pembina Highway to name a few.
The Santas are the donors.
Daria and I are the elves delivering the gifts.
We couldn't do this without assistance from friends, family and neighbors in our communities.
Sometimes people can't donate money.
Dainty trays and a visit puts a smile on the residents faces. They absolutely light up: company breaks up their day. A coffee and a chat. The residents would be thrilled.
Please call first. With flu season and illness. The residents have compromised immune systems.

Merry Christmas to all.
May the season bring you joy, happiness, health and prosperity. Safe holiday travels.

Santa for Seniors has just received a call from Vita Shevchenko Student Council. We are to receive a donation on the behalf of the Student Council and Students.
To the amazing young people- Thank you very much! To the staff and adults who assist these future leaders in our community and abroad. Take a bow. Your effort and hard work is deeply appreciated.
Without the generosity of donations we would not be able to make special goodie bags for the adults and seniors who reside in the Vita Personal Care Home and Vita District Hospital.
It is a huge undertaking to purchase for 55 adults who reside in long term care facilities.
Your generosity makes a difference.
On behalf of Santa for Seniors. I Susan Bordun and Daria Gawronsky would like to thank you.
May the spirit of the season continue into the New Year!
Merry Christmas to all. Safe travels and God Bless.
