03/09/2026

Menopause nutrition focuses on a heart-healthy, Mediterranean-style diet rich in calcium, vitamin D, fibre, and protein to manage symptoms, maintain bone density, and control weight. Key strategies include eating more vegetables, fruits, and whole grains, reducing saturated fats and sodium, and limiting caffeine and alcohol to minimize hot flashes.
Key Nutritional Components for Menopause
* Calcium & Vitamin D: Vital for bone health to combat bone loss. Sources include dairy (milk, yogurt, cheese), fortified foods, tofu, salmon, and leafy greens.
* Protein: Essential for maintaining muscle mass, which decreases during this stage. Spread protein intake across meals (e.g., legumes, fish, poultry, beans).
* Healthy Fats: Focus on omega-3 fatty acids for heart health, such as olive oil, nuts, seeds, and fatty fish (salmon, mackerel).
* Fibre: High-fibre foods like whole grains (oats, quinoa), vegetables, and fruits aid digestion, weight management, and blood sugar control.

When we are stressed, our heart exhibits incoherent heart rate variability (HRV) rhythms, and research is clear, when we learn how to intelligently manage our emotions we are much healthier.
Our heart plays a key role in emotions and self regulation, and emotional energy is encoded into our heart rhythms.
When we are feeling love, kindness, compassion, gratitude, in the flow of life, etc. we exhibit coherent heart rhythms, which benefit every aspect our our health, biochemically, and energetically.
Emotional regulation can be practiced. At it’s simplest form, sit down in a space you feel comfortable and safe. Begin by taking slower, deeper breaths, and focusing on the area around your heart. You may even place a hand over your heart. Add in a positive emotion like the ones listed above: love, kindness, compassion, gratitude, in the flow of life, etc. Sit with this for a few minutes and build your practice up to 20 minutes per day.
You will give longer, healthier, and happier.
