Everyone knows, double coated dogs shouldn’t be shaved or trimmed short. It ruins the coat and the fur doesn’t grow back the same (or grow back at all). HOWEVER, all rules are made to be broken. If it is in the best interest of the dog, there is nothing wrong with going short as long as the owner understands what the risks are. Keeping the dog clean, tangle free and comfortable is often more important than the dog’s appearance. Take sweet little Roxy for example… she is one of our “super seniors” and unfortunately has medical issues that will limit her time with us. Her owners have always kept her (and all of their Poms) in full coat. However, Roxy’s comfort and quality of life are more important now so Susan groomed her in a simple “Boo” style. Not only will she be much easier to keep clean, she looks super cute!

Happy Caturday! Featuring Timi the British shorthair. We are pretty sure this is the most fur we have ever brushed out of a cat pre-bath. We are also pretty sure this is the first time a cat arrived with its own selection of rubber duckies for its bath!
