Some posts are harder to write than others.

This summer, someone very special to our salon will be moving to British Columbia to begin a new chapter in her life. Emily isn’t just a groomer to us — she is part of the heart of our team, and a friend we love dearly.

For years she has cared for your pets with extraordinary patience, gentleness, and devotion. She has celebrated puppies, comforted seniors, and built quiet trust with nervous souls who needed extra understanding. She kept those glorious eyelashes. Bonds like that don’t exist only during appointments — they stay with us.

We are incredibly sad to see Emily go, but also deeply proud and excited for the life and adventures waiting for her.

To make this transition as comfortable as possible, we will personally speak with each of her clients at their upcoming visits and thoughtfully match your pet with another member of our team. We work closely together and will ensure your pet’s routine, style, and comfort remain familiar and safe.

Thank you for loving Emily as much as we do.

2026 is going to be an exciting year at TLC Groomery! Here are a few highlights:

🐾 We will be overhauling our online booking system shortly to make it easier to use and to more clearly set out our pricing. More details to come.

🐾 Stefano will be back from his little “vacation” mid/late February.

🐾 Rika and baby are doing fabulous! We don’t have a firm return date yet but likely it will be sometime this spring.

🐾 The salon will be closed on February 15th. We are headed to the Barkside for a seminar on managing difficult dogs.

🐾 Susan is leaving on a jet plane in July to attend MasterGroom!

As always, appointments are booking up fast… we strongly recommend pre-booking as far ahead as possible.

Everyone knows, double coated dogs shouldn’t be shaved or trimmed short. It ruins the coat and the fur doesn’t grow back the same (or grow back at all). HOWEVER, all rules are made to be broken. If it is in the best interest of the dog, there is nothing wrong with going short as long as the owner understands what the risks are. Keeping the dog clean, tangle free and comfortable is often more important than the dog’s appearance. Take sweet little Roxy for example… she is one of our “super seniors” and unfortunately has medical issues that will limit her time with us. Her owners have always kept her (and all of their Poms) in full coat. However, Roxy’s comfort and quality of life are more important now so Susan groomed her in a simple “Boo” style. Not only will she be much easier to keep clean, she looks super cute!
