Tongue Posture 101!

👅 Did you know your tongue should rest on the roof of your mouth—not the bottom?

Proper tongue posture supports nasal breathing, ideal jaw and facial growth, jaw stabilization and restorative sleep.

Small changes in how your tongue rests can make a big difference in overall function …. and comfort of the jaw!

🦷 Orthodontics & Myofunctional Therapy

When it comes to orthodontics, there’s more to consider than just the position of your teeth.

Factors like tongue posture, swallowing patterns, breathing habits, and oral muscle function all play a significant role in how your jaws align—and how well your results last.

✨ That’s where Myofunctional Therapy comes in! By addressing the roots cause of dysfunctional habits and muscles that affect your occlusion, Myofunctional therapy supports orthodontic treatment to create a healthier, stabilized jaw and airway.

🌿 Nervous System Regulation 101 🌿

Your nervous system is the control center of your body.

When it’s stressed, you might feel anxious, shut down, or overwhelmed.

The good news? You can teach your body to return to calm. Try these simple practices:
• Breathe deeply: slow inhales with longer exhales
o Get sunlight: especially in the morning
o Ground yourself: notice your feet on the floor, walk barefoot outside or hold a textured object
o Move your body: stretch, shake, or dance it out
o Connect: safe touch, socialize, laughter, spending time with loved ones

✨ Regulation isn’t about avoiding stress—it’s about helping your body find balance again.

👶🗣️ Speech & Myofunctional Therapy

If your child struggles with certain sounds or has ongoing speech difficulties, the underlying cause may be more than just “lack of practice.”

👉 Often, the muscles of the mouth and tongue are not working as they should and lack the foundation required for articulation.

That’s where Myofunctional Therapy comes in!

Strengthening and retraining the oral muscles for improving tongue tone and ideal tongue placement. OMT helps create the “foundation” needed for clear, confident speech.

✨ Supporting speech therapy with proper muscle function = better, longer-lasting results.

Kelly Hall, RDH - Orofacial Myofunctional Therapist

Hi, I’m Kelly

I am a dedicated, caring professional that embraces the natural health approach and whole body wellness.

I provide gentle thorough care by meeting individual needs and restoring patients health and wellness. I graduated with Honours in 2006 at the Canadian Academy of Dental Hygiene in Mississauga.

My journey to becoming a Myofunctional Therapist began when I became passionate about the strong connection between oral health and the connection to the body. As I started my myofunctional therapy training and began helping my patients I starting learning more about my own orofacial myofunctional symptoms. This is when I became increasingly interested in natural health and wellness. I wanted to understand the root cause of not only oral myofunctional problems, but poor health in general.
