Sometimes the best way to remember what matters in therapy… is to play. 💛

Kids learn through connection, silliness, curiosity, and moments that feel safe and joyful, not through pressure or perfection. That’s why we lean into play just as much as our clients do (even when that means climbing onto a dinosaur at the play place 😂).

Because play is the point… even for the big kids. 🦖✨

This week’s episode of Neurodiversally Speaking hit a little closer to home.

When my 2.5-year-old broke his leg, our playtime changed, it got slower, quieter… but it also got deeper. ❤️

In this episode, we talk about how play isn’t just about having fun. It’s how kids, neurodiverse and neurotypical alike, learn, regulate, and connect.

🎧 Tune in to hear us break down the magic of child-led play, share our go-to play strategies as moms and clinicians, and explore how following a child’s lead can unlock their potential.

💚 Because play isn’t just something we do, it’s how we grow, together.

No one was ready for the first snowfall ❄️ not me, not the kids, not even the snow pants.

My 6-year-old wanted nothing to do with them this morning (it's fuzzy pants or bust in her world).
So I packed them in her bag… and she decided to wear them at recess.

My job is to give her all the warm things she needs.
Her job (within reason) is to learn how to use them.

Transitions take practice ... for all of us. 🩷 Comment below if you or your child struggled with the transition to winter today!!

Some parents have told us how hard it can be to find places where their neurodiverse children can just play and be themselves.

We’re hosting a free weekly drop-in for neurodiverse toddlers and children in Burlington. It’s relaxed, play-based, and open to families who want a no-pressure space for their kids to explore and connect.

No expectations, lots of sensory toys, and a chance for children to play and for families to meet others in a similar situation.

Halloween at Elemenoe was full of giggles, colour, and a few extra hugs.

🎃 Language grows in moments like these!

Let them explore, get messy, be silly, and find joy… this is where learning happens, even when traditions get a little messy. Pumpkin guts, laughter, and Halloween fun = language, connection, and discovery. 🧡✨

🎙️ Excited to share more in our upcoming episode on Neurodiversally Speaking, and remember, play is the point!

We meet with families every week who are navigating the early days after an autism diagnosis, often feeling unsure where to start.

Some parents tell us the diagnosis came as a shock. Others have been advocating for years, finally getting the answers they’ve been searching for. No matter where you are on this journey, we see you. ❤

That’s why we created What’s Next After an Autism Diagnosis: A Guide for Parents and Caregivers in Ontario.

It’s a neuro-affirming, practical resource designed to help families take the next steps with clarity and confidence. Inside, you’ll find information about funding, community supports, and how to build a collaborative care team, all in one place.

We put this guide together because we get asked these questions all the time, and we wanted families to have access to the information they need most.

You can find the link to download our free guide in our bio.

We saw Temple Grandin speak at an autism conference last year and she spoke about how seeing the world differently is a strength. That different is not "less." When we value different ways of thinking, we open doors to creativity, innovation, and understanding.

You may have heard some buzz lately about leucovorin - a prescription medication being discussed as a potential treatment for autism. But what does the research actually say?

Our BCBA Co-Director breaks down what leucovorin is, what the studies show so far, and why it’s important to approach new “miracle” treatments with both curiosity and caution.
