Children often learn best when activities feel natural and familiar.

Using objects already found around the home - like measuring cups, spoons, buttons, or containers - can make learning feel approachable and low‑pressure. Sorting by size, colour, or texture is a simple way to support exploration and everyday skill-building.

April 2 is World Autism Acceptance Day - a reminder that acceptance, understanding, and inclusion make all the difference in the lives of autistic children, youth, and their families.

With the right support, we can make a meaningful and lasting impact on the development and well-being of those with autism.

Here are a few tips to create a nurturing space where every child can thrive:
- Use Visual Supports
- Simplify Language
- Celebrate Progress
- Create a Sensory-Friendly Environment
- Break Tasks into Steps
- Support opportunities for meaningful social connection

We also encourage you to explore these local resources for support:
Ontario Autism Program: ontario.ca/page/ontario-autism-program
KidsAbility Autism Services: https://kidsability.ca/autism-services

Every child deserves to be accepted, celebrated, and supported for exactly who they are.
