Stanley Edward Podeszwa (Stan), aged 86, beloved husband, father, grandfather, uncle, and friend, departed for his next destination on February 14th, 2026. Stan is survived by his wife of 54 years, Manu'a (nee Po); his children Herb, Jeff, Daisy (André), Davis (Kristine); and grandchildren, Yvon, Rémi, Melaia, Kailey, Tala, Cora and Evangeline. Stan/Uncle Stan is beloved to his extended family and friends across Samoa, New Zealand and Australia. Stan is most known for his hard work ethic, always encouraging his children and grandchildren to "save for a rainy day". He was a general laborer who worked in many factories across the world. He was also a salesman and was committed to working whatever job that would provide for his family. He started his family when he married his wife in Samoa, lived in New Zealand for many years, had three children and returned to his birthplace of London, Ontario during the great blizzard of 1978. His youngest son was born at the end of that year. As a loving Father, Stan raised his children by encouraging them to work hard and get a good education. He enjoyed being an amateur fisherman, meteorologist and astronomer. Stan would like to wish everyone all the best of the Season! A funeral service will be held from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM on 2026-02-20 at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, 615 Baseline Rd. E. The Podeszwa and Arseneault Family would like to thank all of Dad's caring workers from the Paramed Palliative care team, his loving Paramed PSW "children and grandchildren" and Ontario Health at Home in Waterloo, Ontario. We're also grateful for the Hospice Waterloo Region for their community support. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Alzheimer Society Southwest Partners (through their website) where Dad aced his trivia games in the day program and gained a friend through his dedicated volunteer.

Obituary Piracy Petition Filed With House of Commons

Funeral professionals and families continue to be frustrated by the publication of obituaries on third-party websites, which profit from the sales of flowers, tree planting and memorial products/keepsakes. The families are not asked for permission to place the obituaries on these sites and are often unaware that they exist.

A petition has been filed with the House of Commons asking the federal government to ban this practice. The petition is open for signatures until 4:52 pm (EDT) on February 26, 2026.
