If you would like to get your flu shot before your upcoming Christmas gatherings, give us a call. Influenza is on the rise in our region.
Protect yourself and others!
We are seeing very high levels of influenza activity, particularly among children and youth, in our region and across Ontario. Influenza A (H3N2) is the dominant strain this season, and pediatric influenza-related hospital admissions are higher than what is typically seen.
What this means:
• More children are becoming seriously ill with influenza and require hospital care
• Local trends reflect what is being seen across the province
How you can help protect your children and our community:
💉 Get vaccinated: The flu vaccine remains the best protection against serious illness and hospitalization.
🏠 Stay home when sick: If you or your child have symptoms such as fever, cough, sore throat, or fatigue, please stay home.
🧼 Practice good hand hygiene: Wash hands often with soap and water.
😷 Wear a mask when feeling unwell: Masking helps reduce the spread of illness to others.
💙 Everyone has a role to play in keeping our community healthy. Taking these steps can help protect vulnerable children, families, and health-care resources during this active flu season.
