The mental health of Black men is not always discussed.
Men, in general, are less likely to seek mental health support.
Because we have *polite* racism in Canada, we don't have nearly enough racially diverse mental health practitioners.
So even if we wanted help, let's be real... most of us can count the number of Black male therapists we can refer to in Canada... on one hand.
So who are we supposed to speak to about Black masculinity?
*********
We need systemic change.
We need a new paradigm.
We need Rhythm and Processing.
Rhythm and Processing (RAP) is a framework that was intentionally designed, not just as an application of anti-racist psychotherapy, but to speak to the hearts of the public.
We are bringing anti-oppressive perspectives and advances in neuroscience together at last.
From a predictive processing framework, RAP leverages the use of multimedia, cultural identities, and experiences of leisure to disconfirm narratives of suffering.
Using a theoretical approach based on memory reconsolidation we can permanently and consistently heal traumatic memories. And yes, people can feel awesome while doing it.
We can use the courageousness, preciousness, and greatness of the Black man to heal his trauma.
Healing from racial trauma?
Yes, of course it's possible, but don't get it twisted.
RAP can also help those who suffer from anxiety, depression, and a range of other challenging mental health conditions and diagnoses.
We just need to target the events that have set these things in place.

Dr. Martin Luther King Jr's words ring true-- even though more than half a century has passed since his speeches were first broadcasted.
Come and join us.
You will hear that he was on the right side of history then and applies to the crises we are experiencing today.
His message continues to inspire me and I hope his words inspire you too.
May the ancestors continue to guide us.
May all people healing from suffering.
May we be victorious in the fight for the psychological liberation.
All power for all people. Forever.
Have a revolutionary Black history month.
