When a client says, “I don’t even know where to start,” here’s what’s often happening underneath:

• They’ve been carrying a lot for a long time, and sorting through it feels overwhelming. 😔
• They worry about getting it wrong, even in therapy, often shaped by early experiences, criticism, or not feeling safe to speak.
• They’ve rarely had space to share their story without being judged, interrupted, or dismissed. Many people learn early on that their voice doesn’t matter.

Here’s what a therapist might gently say:
“You showed up. That’s your start.”
“We don’t need a perfect starting point. We just need one thread to follow.” 🧵
“There’s no wrong place to begin. There’s only the place you’re ready for.”
“What do you notice in your body right now?”
This question helps us slow down and notice where tension or emotion is showing up. Our bodies speak quietly, but honestly.

You don’t need to have everything figured out.
You just need a place to begin. 🌱
