Today, I celebrate another year around the sun… and one of the most meaningful ways I could imagine 💫

I had the honour of supporting a homebirth on my birthday 🤍

There’s something incredibly special about being welcomed into a space where a family is growing, where trust is deep, and where birth unfolds in its most intimate and powerful form. To be invited into that, especially today, felt like the greatest gift.

Birth, in all its forms, continues to humble me. It reminds me why I do this work, to witness, to support, to hold space, and to walk alongside families in some of the most transformative moments of their lives.

Spending my birthday doing what I love, exactly where I’m meant to be… I wouldn’t have it any other way.

Grateful. Honoured. In awe. ✨

✨ 300 Births Attended ✨

This morning, I had the honor of supporting my 300th birth as a doula. 💜

When I think back to my very first birth almost 9 years ago, I could never have imagined the depth of growth, learning, and transformation this path would bring. Each family, each birth, each unique journey has shaped me into the doula I am today.

I’ve witnessed strength in its rawest form, love in its most powerful expression, and resilience that continues to inspire me. Every single birth has taught me something new, about trust, about surrender, about courage, and about the sacred power of bringing new life into the world.

I am endlessly grateful to every client who has welcomed me into such a vulnerable and intimate space. To be invited into these moments is the greatest honor, and I carry pieces of every story with me always.

Here’s to the next chapter, the next births, and the continued privilege of walking alongside families as they welcome their babies. Thank you for trusting me. 💜

Today I’m refreshing my First Aid & CPR certification, an important part of staying current as a professional birth worker.

Birth work isn’t just about emotional and physical support during pregnancy, birth, and postpartum, it’s also about being prepared for the unexpected. Keeping my certifications up to date ensures I can provide safe, reliable care for the families I serve.

Continuing education and maintaining these skills are just one of the many ways doulas stay committed to professional standards and to the well-being of the people.

Today we honour the role of fathers and father figures.

To the dads who show up with love, presence, patience, and care, you matter more than words can say. Your support, your strength, your softness, and your steady hands help shape the next generation. You are partners in the truest sense, nurturing, guiding, and protecting. Your role is deeply important and deeply appreciated.

We also recognize that Father’s Day can bring up complex feelings. For those grieving, estranged, longing, or navigating absence, we see you. This day can carry both love and loss, celebration and sorrow. Whatever your experience, you are not alone.

Today, we celebrate the many ways that care and connection show up in families, biological, chosen, and everything in between. 💙

At St. Joe’s in Toronto today, holding space as we prepare to welcome another little one earthside. After just over 24 hours of labour, it’s almost time to meet this baby! Parents are catching some final moments of rest before we start pushing. What an honour it is to witness strength, love, and anticipation in these quiet, powerful hours. 💛✨

Happy 1st Birthday to Zeus!
This little bully boy joined our family last July, and life hasn’t been the same since. He’s tested every ounce of patience I have—but he’s also filled my heart in ways I didn’t know possible.

Zeus, you are wild, stubborn, hilarious, and full of love. I absolutely adore you.

Happy birthday, baby boy. Now let’s go play at the cottage and celebrate you!

Today we said goodbye to our beloved Missy.

She joined our family in 2011 and quickly became more than just a pet, she was a loyal companion, a gentle presence, and a cherished friend to me and all my girls. Through every season of our lives, she was there with love, patience, and her own quiet kind of wisdom.

Missy brought so much joy and comfort into our home, and though our hearts are heavy, we are grateful for the many years we shared with her. She will be missed deeply, but she’ll live on in our hearts and memories always.

Thank you, Missy, for everything.

The Doula-Client Relationship

There’s something truly special about the relationship between a doula and the person or family they support.

It’s not just about showing up for a birth or a few postpartum visits.
It’s about building a bond rooted in:

✨ Trust – knowing someone has your back, no matter what.
✨ Continuity – having the same supportive presence throughout your journey.
✨ Nonjudgmental support – being held exactly as you are, with no pressure or agenda.
✨ Shared decision-making – having someone who listens, informs, and reminds you that you are in charge.

The doula-client relationship is built on presence, patience, and deep respect.

It’s about walking beside you, through the unknowns, the messy moments, the joy, and the transformation, with steady hands and an open heart.

Doulas and Health Equity

Not everyone has the same experience when it comes to pregnancy, birth, and postpartum care, and that’s NOT okay.

Birth disparities are real.
In many communities, especially for Black, Indigenous, and People of Colour, LGBTQIA+ individuals, and marginalized populations, rates of birth complications, mortality, and mistreatment are significantly higher. Systemic racism, bias, and barriers to care all play a role.

Doulas are part of the solution.

✨ How do doulas support health equity?
• We provide continuous, individualized care that centers the needs, values, and voices of each client.
• We advocate for informed consent and respectful care, helping clients navigate the system with confidence.
• We offer culturally competent, inclusive support, recognizing and respecting diverse identities, traditions, and experiences.
• Studies show doulas help reduce rates of interventions, increase satisfaction, and improve outcomes, especially in underserved communities.

Every birthing person deserves safety, respect, and dignity.
Doulas help bridge gaps in care, empower families, and stand beside them in moments that matter most.

This is more than support, it’s justice!

My Story

Nothing ignites my passion more than pregnancy, childbirth and infants. When I started my doula career in 2016, I quickly realized that this is where I belonged. I’m blessed to have found this path, and thankful for being able to meet so many wonderful parents. Watching a couple transform into a family or witnessing a family grow is an honour I cherish every day. Being that constant familiar face throughout their journey is a responsibility I both understand and respect. Helping parents get the support they and their families need is my #1 priority, because I strongly believe in the importance of continuous support and informed choices for better perinatal and infant health outcomes. Birth is unique to each woman and every pregnancy, and I aim to make that journey the best it can be through education and support. Knowing how our births affect our future mental health, parenting and the development of our newborns is crucial to making the right choices for our individual needs and circumstances. Whether it be during pregnancy & childbirth or during the postpartum periods, my training and experience will help guide you and your family through this special and unforgettable moment in your life. Looking forward to helping you tap into that empowerment within you, so you, your family and your baby can have the Beautiful Beginnings you deserve.
