I get goosebumps at work every day.
Whenever I see a patient change their expression from feeling hopeless to hopeful, I get goosebumps.

Whenever the patient starts realizing that their invisible symptoms are common after a concussion/ brain injury and and that there are reasons for what they are experiencing, I get goosebumps

Whenever they start walking and feeling more steady during the balance testing, their expression, gives me goosebumps every time.

Whenever they say: ā€œI didn’t think I can see this way ever againā€ā€”- goosebumps!

This is my WHY. I will keep doing this because I know that you can feel better than how you are feeling after a concussion.

I’m Dr. Lisa Chow, neuro-optometrist; and I treat those who have a concussion and have persistent vision problems resulting in invisible symptoms that are debilitating. My mission is to get you to feel back to normal and even better than before.

Comment ā€œconcussionā€ and I will send you my FREE vision recovery roadmap guide

Today’s quick drill is 20 seconds of saccadic switch. You can either do this on screen with me, or take your own two targets (two pens) or even your fingers and focus on the target, keeping head still and eyes fixated.

This drills works your eye teaming and oculomotor skills. For those who feel symptomatic when doing this, these activities should not be painful or cause nausea. If symptoms persist, please see a neuro optometrist for a full neurovisual evaluation.

For those who have a concussion and want to learn more about recovery; comment ā€œconcussionā€ and I will send you my free guide.

You train your body. You train your mind.
But do you train your eyes? šŸ‘€

Here is a simple drill I use with athletes to boost their tracking skills; and it makes all the difference in reaction time and focus.

Save this for your next warm-up šŸ‘‡and tag an athlete who needs this. Tomorrow we will actually do this drill together for 20 seconds. Stay tuned!

āš ļø For educational purposes only.
If you’ve had a concussion, some of these drills may trigger symptoms — stop if you feel discomfort.

Prep my Neuro- Visual Binocular Vision eye exam with me! Behind the scenes: before any BVD assessment, I have a bunch of gadgets and toys I prep including my occluders, my near point stick, visual acuity cards, 3D stereo testing, color testing, prism bars to assess ocular motor alignment (whether you have an eye turn), my wolf wands and fixation sticks, my accommodation lenses, worth 4 dot to check for suppression and double vision, and so so much more.

This is just the beginning! If I put everything out, the whole table will be full!!

It is always fun and my brain is always going on a workout as everyone has different signs, symptom and history! This is what makes my specialty fun and meaningful. I love the challenge every day.

Share this with your friends who really need to recognize how important our eyes are! There is so much more than 20/20 vision.

After a concussion, your brain’s visual processing can slow down; causing blurred vision, dizziness, eye strain, and difficulty focusing.

This isn’t just about your eyes, it’s about how your brain interprets what your eyes see.

Swipe through to learn the key areas of the brain that control vision; and why vision therapy can help rebuild those pathways.

Athletes don’t just train their bodies; they train their eyes too.

Your eyes control balance, focus, and reaction. Training them sharpens performance; and speeds up recovery after concussion.

Drill one: the Brock String.
✨ Focus on each bead until you see one clear X pattern.
This builds depth perception and teaches your eyes to work together as a team. Up from each bead to converge and diverge your eyes

Save this for your next training session and tag an athlete who needs this.

Most athletes focus on strength or speed but what about what they’re seeing?

Try this quick drill and let’s elevate your game. Athletes who train their visual system react faster, process plays quicker, and perform better under pressure.
