.. answer: DIET SODA ! Yes, it is true .. diet soda is BETTER for you than regular soda when it comes to weight loss, and to be honest, just in general if you had to choose.
We hear so many things about artificial sweeteners and the harm they can cause etc etc. But do those outweigh the effects that high sugar content can cause you ? I don’t think so. Before we go on, both diet and regular soda aren’t “good” for you by any means, they both suck. But gun to my head if I had to choose, I’m definitely choosing diet soda.
Personally, I will always advocate for a no sugar alternative than a full sugar alternative. We all know what too much sugar can do to you and what it can lead to (health risks, weight gain, obesity, energy spikes and crashes, dependence/addiction etc etc) .. but with artificial sweeteners, there’s a lot of “potentially”, “maybe” and inconclusive, concrete evidence. And if you’re focusing on weight loss, the extra sugar and increased calories will just be stored in your body as fat.
For example, a 154lb person would need 17-20 cans of diet soda PER DAY to have “dangerous” levels of aspartame. Who does that ? Virtually nobody. And if you do, you have a lot of other issues you should sort out with your brain lol.
For a person with the same weight, it would take 9 cans per day everyday to reach dangerous levels of sucralose that would harm you long term.
So if you’re goal is to drop some pounds, the easiest thing you can do is eliminate regular soda from your diet, and if you need to replace it with a diet soda per day or every few days …. DO IT !!!
Do what you will with that information but bottom line is: diet soda in moderation IS a better alternative than regular soda hands down !! HOWEVER, water is still the best liquid to consume !
