Moon Gate Guest House is a Métis-owned, eco-friendly retreat on the Whitemouth River in Manitoba.

We offer year-round stays and cultural experiences where you can rest, heal, and disconnect to connect with yourself, loved ones, and the land. Amenities include:

Large 6-8 person Finnish-style sauna

✨ Solstice Scenes | 2025 Soulstice Celebration ✨

Join us on December 20 from 2-9pm as we gather to celebrate the return of the light at our 2025 Soulstice Celebration. If you’ve been with us on a Solstice night before, you know it as a warm, welcoming evening filled with food, friends, music, and heartfelt connection.

This year, the spirit remains — with a clear, substance-free intention. We’ll celebrate through ceremony, ritual, and a shared commitment to higher vibration and mindful presence.

Expect a magical evening of:
🔥 Sacred Fire & smudging
🌀 Sharing circle
🍲 Community feasting
❄️ Snowshoeing & star gazing
🎲 Games & winter crafting
🎶 Music, dancing & joyful connection

This is a family-friendly gathering. Come as you are — exactly as the powerful, beautiful human you are — and celebrate with like-minded souls.

We’ll also be creating a Winter Solstice craft, guided by the lovely Randa of The Crone’s Den. Donations to help cover materials are appreciated. More details in our Facebook event.

Harvest & Hearth: Exploring Métis Food Traditions at Moon Gate

🌎Now that the leaves have fallen and the air cools with the whisper of winter, we return to the hearth. At Moon Gate Guest House, food is more than nourishment — it is a memory, a story, a connection to our ancestors and the land.

💨Bannock, warm from the cast iron pan, is comforting. Made from simple ingredients and shared with intention, it carries generations of Métis tradition. Whether enjoyed with wild jam, dipped in stew, or wrapped around a stick and roasted on fire, it invites a moment of pause and gratitude.

🌿Our Metis Kitchen Party menus reflect the season and the spirit of place. We use wild herbs, berries, and vegetables from the garden — sometimes gathered during plant walks with guests. Sage, wild mint, and Labrador tea often find their way into our kitchen or your teacup.

🔥There’s something sacred about fire. Our pizza nights, while modern in form, are rooted in this same practice of coming together, sharing food, and telling stories. It’s our way of blending old and new, tradition and evolution, heat and heart.

Food is how we welcome you. It’s how we honour the land and those who came before. And it’s how we invite you to feel at home, whether you’re sitting at our long table or sipping tea under the stars.

Whether he’s performing for thousands at festivals or a handful of folks in a smoke-filled back-road bar in rural Saskatchewan, his raw honesty has earned him a devoted following and a well-deserved place among Canada’s great songwriters.
