Yesterday marked a truly monumental moment for the Sigma Theta Tau - Tau Upsilon Chapter as we celebrated our 20th Anniversary Induction Ceremony.
This year was especially significant as we proudly inducted 89 new members, the highest number of inductees in our chapter’s history. Over the past 20 years, our chapter has continued to grow, evolve, and strengthen, and this milestone is a true reflection of that journey.
We are incredibly grateful to everyone who joined us to celebrate this special occasion, our board members, faculty from the University of Windsor, inductees, family, and friends. Your presence made this milestone even more meaningful.
To our new inductees, this achievement is something to be truly proud of. You have demonstrated excellence in academics, leadership, and a deep commitment to the values of nursing. As you move forward, continue to lead with kindness, compassion, and integrity.
We would like to extend our sincere appreciation to our distinguished speakers.
A special thank you to Dr. Debbie Sheppard-LeMoine, PhD, FCAN, RN, Dean and Professor at the University of Windsor Faculty of Nursing, for opening the ceremony with a warm and inspiring welcome.
We were also honoured to hear from our keynote speaker, Kathleen Moreland, Chair of the Windsor-Essex Chapter of the Registered Nurses’ Association of Ontario. Her powerful message, woven beautifully with the theme of “Oh, the Places You’ll Go”, captivated the audience and reminded us all of our purpose in nursing. Her words brought us back to our “why” and challenged us to strive for excellence and lead by example.
We would also like to recognize and thank our current and outgoing board members for their dedication and service this past year. A special acknowledgment to our outgoing members:
Secretary: Donna Nguyen
Retired Member Ambassador: Kathryn Edmunds
Newsletter Editor: Gauri Kumar
University of Windsor Student Representative: Brandon Boundy
Ignite Student/Archivist: Brandon Boundy
Your contributions have made a lasting impact on our chapter.
Congratulations to all of our award recipients. Your dedication, perseverance, and commitment to excellence have truly set you apart. Each of you exemplifies the very best of nursing through your leadership, compassion, and unwavering pursuit of growth. This recognition is a reflection not only of your hard work, but of the meaningful impact you are already making, and will continue to make, in the lives of others. We are incredibly proud to celebrate your achievements.
A heartfelt thank you to the Serbian Centre for graciously hosting us in such a beautifully prepared space. We also extend our appreciation to the University of Windsor Faculty of Nursing for their generous support of the flowers and cupcakes, and a special thank you to Lisa Roberts Creations for the stunning cupcakes.
As we welcome our new members, we look forward to seeing each of you grow as leaders within Sigma and within the nursing profession. You are now part of a global community, a family committed to excellence, scholarship, and service.
Lead with purpose. Lead with intent. Lead with humility. And always remember, you have the power to be a pebble in a pond of possibilities.
