I am sending this letter with mixed emotions that West Hants Physiotherapy will be closing our doors permanently effective Friday February 13, 2026. Steve and I decided after running into a couple of obstacles both professionally with staffing difficulties and leases and personally with health issues this last year that the universe might be telling us to slow down a bit. Steve is of retirement age and I am close behind, yet we are working much more than anyone looking for life balance should.

Steve and I have enjoyed serving the Windsor and surrounding area so much over these past 18 years, first as Health at Home Physiotherapy then adding in West Hants Physiotherapy in 2014.

On behalf of Steve, Nora and myself, we wish you good health in 2026.

Did you know the Canadian Physiotherapy Code of Conduct preserves your right to choose which clinic you want to go to — no matter who is paying?

That means people involved in car accidents, WCB (work-related injuries), legal cases, and sports teams or organizations are all legally free to decide where they receive treatment — without worry of any negative impact to their case or situation.

What is ALS?

ALS, or Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis, is a neurodegenerative disease also known as Motor Neuron Disease (MND) or Lou Gehrig’s disease. It targets motor neurons, crucial for transmitting messages to voluntary muscles like arms and legs. While 90% of cases arise sporadically, 5-10% are inherited. Approximately 6-8 out of every 100,000 people are diagnosed with ALS.

Physiotherapists support ALS patients with treatments and equipment for comfort, breathing, mobility, and communication. In collaboration with a multidisciplinary team, including ALS Clinic experts, they help guide decisions on interventions and equipment, ensuring tailored care to enhance quality of life amidst the challenges of the disease.
