Trusting God When Anxiety Says “Hold On Tighter”

When fear takes over, our first instinct is to control. We plan, overthink, and try to make everything feel safe. But here’s the paradox — the more we try to control, the more anxious we often become.

Anxiety whispers, “You’re not safe unless you’re in charge.”
Faith reminds us, “You’re safe because God is in charge.” 💛

Letting go doesn’t mean we stop caring — it means we learn to trust the One who holds what we can’t.

Try reflecting on this today:
🙏 What fears are you trying to manage on your own?
🙏 What would it mean to surrender that to God — one small piece at a time?

Peace often begins where control ends.

Do you struggle to say NO?
In the therapy room, people-pleasing comes up all the time. At first it looks kind and selfless… but long-term, it leaves people drained, resentful, and disconnected.
Here’s what I see most often:
💛 Fear of losing relationships if you set boundaries
💛 Saying yes when you want to say no
💛 Building resentment towards the very people you’re trying to please

Here’s the truth:
✨ Boundaries protect relationships—they don’t break them.
✨ Saying no can actually create MORE closeness.
✨ Counselling can help you understand your fears and create healthier ways of connecting.

If you’re in Winkler, Morden, or anywhere in Manitoba, I’d love to support you. Online counselling is also available across Canada. You don’t have to do this alone. 💛

If childhood trauma—big or small—is still echoing in your adult relationships, you’re not alone.
💬 Unmet needs, emotional neglect, or repeated stress can shape how we love and parent today.
Healing is possible, and therapy can help. Read more about how childhood trauma impacts adult relationships in my new blog post.

Ever searched your mental health symptoms online—only to end up more anxious than before? 🤯 You’re not alone.

We turn to the internet for answers because:
💬 It’s fast and private
💬 Counselling can be costly or hard to access (hello, Winkler & Morden!)
💬 Sometimes we think our problems aren’t “big enough” for therapy

But here’s the thing—Google (and even AI) can’t look you in the eye, notice your tears, or truly get you. Therapy isn’t just information—it’s human connection. 💛

✅ Use AI to learn and prepare questions for your therapist
❌ Don’t rely on it to diagnose you or replace human help

You deserve real, empathetic support. Even if you think your struggle is “small.”

🚗🌄 Out of Office & On the Road! 🌿
I’m officially on vacation! Taking a break from the therapy chair and heading out on a family road trip adventure. Time for rest, laughter, and a little exploring with my favorite people. 💛

As a therapist, I often remind others that rest is essential—not optional. So this is me, practicing what I preach.

I’ll be away from July 28 and back on August 12, hopefully with a few good stories and a full heart.

Here’s your gentle reminder:
✨You’re allowed to pause. Fun counts as self-care too.✨

“Rest isn’t a reward. It’s a need.”

If you feel guilty for resting — you’re not alone.
Especially for women, rest can feel undeserved when the dishes pile up and the to-do list never ends. But here’s your reminder:

🌿 You don’t need to finish everything to pause.
🌿 Rest isn’t lazy — it’s healing.
🌿 Even Jesus rested.
