While the most recent formula recall is an American, and not (to my knowledge) currently sold in Canada, it is important for families to know how to safely prepare powdered infant formula. Please see below for details.
NOTE: preparation instructions on tins of formula generally do not typically include this information on safest preparation.

Important Recall for those who are using infant formula.
In order to not further assist in advertising of the name of a particular brand on social media, if you are using formula and curious about the recall, please see the FDA's website about this recall (below).
Unfortunately, there are formula recalls every year. While not every recall can be prevented by the following, it is important to share/remind parents that when using powdered formula, it is important to boil the water and THEN (while it is still boiling hot: 157 degrees Fahrenheit or 70 degrees Celcius) add the powdered formula, mix it, and THEN cool it. You can make a day's batch at one time and refrigerate it, but the HOT water kills a known pathogen in powdered formula. Unfortunately, it's NOT about having "clean" water, it's about the hot water killing the germ that is IN the formula powder (upon contact with the hot water).
