When I started building Nelson Therapy and Consulting, I was in the midst of my studies and navigating the challenges of COVID. After six years of dedication, sacrifice, and persistence, I am now nearing the completion of my PhD in Social Work.

This journey was never about a title. It has always been about showing what is possible when we refuse to be defined by the limits placed on us. I began my education at the Inner City Faculty of Social Work, driven by a deep commitment to community, healing, and creating meaningful change.

Being able to return to where my academic journey began—this time to defend my research as the final step of that journey—feels like coming full circle. It reflects not only personal growth, but the values that continue to guide the work we do at Nelson Therapy and Consulting: resilience, possibility, and community-rooted care.

Today was such a beautiful day of sitting in relationship with one another. Our team had the privilege of sitting with my brother Cory N Karen Campbell where he shared stories and teachings regarding cree and Ojibwe clan teachings and how this supports our work as helpers with our relatives. We laughed, ate good food, asked beautiful intentional questions and learned a lot. Thanks so much Cory for always holding space for us

As much as we support the healing work of others our team at Nelson Therapy also need moments to care for ourselves. Thanks to my brother Cory N Karen Campbell for making space for us all to gather to do our own healing work in the sweat lodge so that we can continue to show up as helpers for our community. Wellness ,balance, and love.
