Our office is situated in Winnipeg, MB. We are looking for home support workers who are based in Steinbach, MB. Successful candidates will be oriented and trained to offer the best care available to our clients. Our home support workers will be responsible for medication administration, meal preparation, light housekeeping and accompaniment to appointments and outings.

Required Documents:

Clear Adult Abuse Registry Check (no older than 3 months)
Clear Child Abuse Registry Check (no older than 3 months)
Clear Criminal Record Check (no older than 3 months)
Valid government issued photo ID
Work permit (if applicable)
Class 5F driver's license (preferred)
Required Training:

Valid CPR Level C
Valid Emergency First Aid

Must speak and write proper English
Duties and responsibilities:

Demonstrate strong written and verbal communication skills
Ability to maintain confidentiality
Promote independence, particularly with activities of daily living, within patient capabilities
Provide care for 5 or more residents with varying needs and care levels
Organize and prioritize own workload
Observe residents and inform the Nurse/Supervisor in-charge of any changes during personal care
Provide catheter care, perineal care, colostomy and ostomy care
Assist/provide with bed baths and tub baths
Change incontinence products and help with bathroom routines
Help with grooming ( shaving, hair, oral and denture care)
Ability to lift and transfer patients/residents, utilizing proper body mechanics
Able to effectively use Hoyer and sit-stand mechanical lifts
Positioning of clients (fowlers, supine, lateral, and sims)
Assist with lifting and ambulating residents as directed
Maintain dignity, independence, preference, privacy, comfort and safety at all times
Distribute resident’s meal trays; fed and assist in feeding residents
Monitor and inform supervisor of all required supplies
Answer call bells in an efficient manner and assist in meeting resident’s request when working in Hospitals and Personal Care Homes
Utilize time management skills to ensure all required tasks are completed within established time frame
Exercise good judgement and sound reasoning to resolve problems that arise with clients and co-workers
Friendly, energetic and professional, demonstrates ability to relate to people from varied cultural and socio-cultural backgrounds
Assist/prepare meals for clients
Clean and maintain a healthy living environment in client’s home (dishes, laundry, sweeping mopping floors etc.)
Able to work in fast-paced, team oriented environment
Able to work independently with little or no supervision
Take courses as needed to meet Health Field requirements

Reporting to the Director of Services of Compassionate Care Home & Hospital Health Services Inc., the Registered Nurse is responsible for providing direct resident care and medication administration; as well as document care in compliance with regulatory and Resident Health and Wellness standards, policies, and procedures in and for the Province of Manitoba.
Responsibilities:
Identifies patient care requirements by establishing personal rapport with potential and actual patients and other persons in a position to understand care requirements
establishes a compassionate environment by providing emotional, psychological support to patients, friends, and families
promotes patient's independence by establishing patient care goals; teaching patient, friends, and family to understand condition, medications, and self-care skills; answering questions
assures quality of care by adhering to therapeutic standards; measuring health outcomes against patient care goals and standards; making or recommending necessary adjustments; following hospital and nursing division's philosophies and standards of care set by College of Registered Nurses of Manitoba, Agency policies and procedures, and other government agency regulations
resolves patient problems and needs by utilizing multidisciplinary team strategies
mainstay safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations; calling for assistance from health care support personnel when necessary
protect patients and employees by adhering to infection-control policies and protocols, medication administration and storage procedures, and controlled substance regulations
document patient care services by charting in patient and department records
maintains continuity among nursing teams by documenting and communicating actions, irregularities, and continuing needs
maintains patient confidence and protects operations by keeping information confidential
ensures operation of equipment by completing preventative maintenance requirements; following manufacturer's instructions; troubleshooting malfunctions; calling for repairs; maintaining equipment inventories; evaluating new equipment and techniques
maintains nursing supplies inventories by checking stock and determine inventory level; anticipating needed supplies; placing and expediting orders for supplies; verifying receipt of supplies; using equipment and supplies as needed to accomplish job results
maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; participating in professional societies
maintain a cooperative relationship among health acre teams by communicating information; responding to requests; building rapport; participating in team problem-solving methods

Qualifications:
current license provided by the College of Registered Nurses of Manitoba
previous relevant experience is not essential, but nay gained caring for or working with people can be helpful
experience working with seniors and unregulated care providers
education and experience in gerontology, rehabilitation, community/complex/long term care an asset
Must possess strong written and oral communication, critical thinking, care coordination, time management and customer focus skills
must have demonstrated sound clinical knowledge and ability to delegate to unregulated care providers
current Basic Cardiac Life Support and First Aid certification required
skills in use of computer and Microsoft Office applications
current (within 3 months) Vulnerable Postiion/ Sector Screening (VPS)
