The # 1 killer of people in Canada is Fentanyl, it can be found in almost every type of street drug. 1 Ng, of Fentanyl the size of a grain of salt can kill a person in minutes. Fentanyl may be swallowed, smoked, snorted or injected. Fentanyl is released from pain prescription patches by smoking or chewing.
Fentanyl is sold as a powder or a Oxycodone pill, or is cut into drugs such as He**in Co***ne, M**h, M**A and Ma*****na, so people swallow, snort or inject it without realizing it. Many overdoses have occurred because people did not know that what they were taking was contaminated with Fentanyl.
Canada statistics show that a total of 5,368 apparent opioid overdose deaths occurred so far in 2021 (January – September). This is approximately 20 deaths per day. A number of factors may have contributed to a worsening of the overdose crisis over the course of the pandemic, including the increasingly toxic drug supply, increased feelings of isolation, stress and anxiety, and changes in the availability or accessibility of services for people who use drugs.
